Default Stiff and bouncy front shocks 1999 LX (FIXED!)

Stiff and bouncy front shocks.

Something wacky is going on, my front suspension is stiff and really bouncy in my 99 LX. Ride height works fine, and all suspension settings are about the same in the front. The rear will stiffen up with the switch put the front end feels like a lo-rider bouncing down the road.

Any ideas or good threads?

i dont know much about the LX but if the front suspension feels bouncy, thats usually the first sign that your shocks are blown and need to be replaced

Dang, I was holding out hope that the fluid change would fix it but this sounds like the globe is bad.

THEY WANT $635.00 EACH!!! Deep breath.....

Since I am most likely going to have to go that route is there an after market system that would be better for heavy loads?

Dang, I thought I'd found a way to do this for 1/2 price.

How hard could it be to make an accumulator?

Why would you have the dealer install them? My truck hasn't seen the dealer in ages.

Has anyone swapped it all out for the non AHC Toyota gear? Or one of the stock height after market kits?

Well I spent some more time looking at options. With help from the I hate mud guys. What I found is that I can use accumulators off of a 2007 Land crusher, and I can order them online for around $430 each. Now I am getting closer. The plan is to run it this way for 4-5 more years and when the system dies l am going to rip it all out and put in something aftermarket.

Well the job is done thanks to everyone here and at IH8MUD

I’d say over all this was easier than I ever thought it would be. If you can change a brake caliper this should be no problem. (With the right tools…)

Here is what I did. I went down to NAPA and picked up a 36mm fan clutch wrench. It fit perfectly!

They had this in stock in a larger set and broke it out for me. If anyone wants to use it just shoot me an e-mail at v12mac at yahoo dot com (you can decode that, trying to keep the spam down) and I’ll mail it out to you as long as you send it back.

Drained off the pressure and remove globe.

Didn’t have a turkey baster or syringe so I sucked out all the fluid I could get out of the system with this

The hose fit in the hole snug and I could squeeze out air and make a slight vacuum that would draw the fluid out. The hose only is in the top ¼ inch or so, that keeps me from squeezing any back out of the bottle.

Bleed out the system as much as I could. I really would have liked to have a 2nd can of fluid to really flush the system but the Toyota dealer only had 1 in stock. I’ll re-flush and bleed when I can get another fresh can. By the way I got the AHC fluid for 40 bucks at Lexus down from 70, and the accumulators from Toyota for 430 down from 636 at Lexus. Not too shabby.

Miller time!

12oz ain't worth open' boy.

Default Toyota part #?

I have a 2000 LX470. Went through several after market globes and still having problem with the front ones. What is the Toyota part #? How are they workin out for you so far?

I found the best price online then I called my local "toyota" dealer and asked him if he would match the price so I could keep the biz local. He was able to match the price, in fact his computer wouldn't let him sell them for $.01 less than the price I asked for. He was kinda shocked at how I came up with that number!

I had to go to Lexus for the AHC juice. They came way down on the price when I said I needed the Toyota price. They had it in stock and cheaper than toyota listed it.

I'll have to go look up the part number off the invoice. But from what I understand it is the same part on all Lex / ota' s
