Default Question

I was talking to a friend of mine about his LX. His lease is about to expire and he is looking for a new ride. I think he is bored with the Lexus line and is looking to get into something else.

I suggested he test drives a Range Rover. He went down to the dealership and called me after the test drive. He was not impressed to say the least. He said and i quote "considering this truck is 20k more then LX, its a ********"

I know this is prolly not the best place to ask, considering this a Lexus Forum, but what would you guys suggest? I know the new LX 570 comes out soon, but not soon enough in this case.

Any input would be appreciated.

Plus the LX isn't much larger inside (actually has a lot less head room), but it does cost about 20K more.

Tell your Buddy to wait until the end of the year and get the new LX570 or a new LC with the 5.7 and 6 speed transmission. Were only talkin a few months, tell him to buy out the lease and then trade it later in the year.

actually, thats what he is looking at now (and a Navigator) i just think he will regret it going to a GM or Ford product after driving a Lexus for the past 6 years.

Let him buy one of them and ask him how he likes it during his ownership. It would be interesting to see what a former LX owner thinks of a GM or Ford product after a couple of years of ownership.

You'd need to be more specific about what he's looking for.... does he need a 3rd row, is he more sport biased driver, etc.

You could be anywhere in recommendations from the Yukon Denali to the BMW X5.

I actually have a 2004 Range Rover. I honestly think it is a great car. I have had 2 others, which were awful in comparison. My Lexus is nice, don't get me wrong, but the Range Rover is so much more different. I drive my Lexus because I know it will get me from point A to B without question. I am not enamoured with it, but its does its job. My Range Rover is more, dare I say fun? It really depends on your friend. If he wants luxurious transportation, buy a Mercedes ML. But a 2003-2005 Range Rover is bullet proof. I couldn't say that about before, and I couldn't say that now.

Is that the RR years when they were owned by BMW and had the BMW V8? I liike the looks of the RR but don't like the way you set in it, but that is just personal preference. Is your experience normal? I don't know since I don't go on any RR sites which I think gives a person a good idea about different model years.

Take a look at Rangerovers.net, and it will give you all the info regarding Range Rovers. The forums are helpful too. The years of BMW X5 Range Rovers were 2003-2005. I wouldn't even consider buying a new one. My friend has had issues with his 2006 HSE... The S/C is supposed to be ok though. Also, regarding the seats... is it comfort? There is a 'luxury package' with better seats. My 2004 has been more reliable than my Audi and Mercedes, which surprises me. I had a 2000 4.6 HSE, which was awful in terms or reliabilty and durability.
