Does anyone have any news about the VX 470...??
I'm in the market next June and was wondering if I should
wait it out.

Currently have '01 LS430 and '03 GX470...
Love both..but want something bigger...

Information and advice appreciated...

Nothing concrete, only speculation the next LX will be based off the Sequoia.

Yeah, I feel ya. To take on the new huge QX56, Escalade ESV etc...The GX is now the Land Cruiser in Europe.

UNLESS, they bring a 4th SUV the VX over and keep the LX too. I doubt this.

Also the next GS (fall 04) will probably have a FX35/45 fighting version.

Default VX470

I have heard (no reliable sources) that the VX470 will be produced from the
Sequoia as a 2006 model and WILL NOT replace the LX470.

If it is priced between the GX and the LX, I'm probably interested...

Any thoughts???

I don't like the Sequoia at all so if the rumors are true I'll let that one pass me by. Its funny that since I first read this post I've been looking at the Sequoia's in traffic and such imagining them being a Lexus product , and I can see them sharping the head lights like that of the GX, adding some white in the tails like the LX, crome out the door handles, intalling half a walnut tree in the interior. Some one do a photoshop I think it would be a least interesting.

.....in some of the forecasts of the automotive press it will not be called the VX 470, but the VX 540. It will have a 5.4 liter V8 with significantly increased horsepower!!

.....your worst fears are probably true. From what I've read, it will be about the same size as the Sequoia. Not absolutely sure if it will be based exactly on that vehicle. It does make financial sense for Toyota to share that platform, however! .....so you never know. If what we've seen so far is any indication, they will probably be twins (like the GX 470/4Runner, as well as the Landcruiser/LX 470)

I may be way off, but we are all talking about the VX being based on the current Sequoia. Is the Sequoia itself due for a redesign?? If so, maybe they will make it a better vehicle from which to base a really nice VX SUV. I think if they use the current Sequoia, the caddies,Infinitis etc. will kick Lexus out of the Large SUV business. They've gotta know that that platform isn't suitable for the ultimate SUV!!! Don't they!?!?!

Default Next Gen

From what I heard earlier, the VX would be based on the next Gen Sequoia, and that Lexus was working on the development from the beginning with them, to ensure product differentiation. This new model would allow the LX to move higher in price to be more in line with Range Rover, G-Class

There is some speculation the LX replacement will be at the NY auto show. It has been around for a long time now (1998) and it is time for a redesign. Lexus needs to offer a big V8 since the Escalade, Infinitti and others have around 300 hp. Lexus seems to do very well in the design of their SUVs so I expect a nice looking LX. I hope it is in NY, but those are just rumours I've heard.

Lexus better do something!!! They just released pricing for the Infinity QX56 last week. It's bigger than the LX (by quite a bit), has a LOT more horsepower, tons of standard features, nice options (including satellite radio, imagine that), and the price for the AWD model starts at a little over $50K!?!?! I love my LX and I'm a true and true Lexus fanatic.......but, this is a hard offer to refuse from Infinity. I was looking at a new LX. $72K!!!??? It's nice, but I'd buy a new QX56 and own 2/3 of a G35 coupe as well for the cost of an LX. Just my $.02.

Default LX replacement?

I would like to see the LX stay, maybe with that 5.4L that Vicpai mentioned. What kind of torque would be produced if it was a hybrid? How far away is a hybrid V8?
