I have a 1998 LX 470 with 367K miles and about a month ago the check engine light came on.Toyota did electronic check and advised that the ECM needed to be replaced. Unfortunately this item has been discontinued by Lexus. Found many used online, purchased one, did not work. Questions:
- can I damage my engine by continuing to drive my truck with the check engine light on?
- any advice on acquiring a replacement ECM?
- any alternatives to replacing the ECM?
All responses will be greatly appreciated.

 

Have 1999 LX470
Knock sensors errors , P0325 and P0330.
Low power , bad gas mileage , just sluggish.
Replaced sensors 4 times ( 4 times ) , last time good used with harness from 2001 Tundra, NOTHING.
Open up ECU , capacitors C324 and C321 had cracked. C324 was shorted out completely. Zero ohm's.
Replaced capacitors from donor ECU from 22001 Tundra.
DTC's gone , car drives fine.
