Agreed, but I don't think you can attribute it to the nav system itself, but rather, the switch to this FM traffic system from the Sirius system used in prior LS's. Yeah, it's free, but it's garbage. Constantly tells me that there's heavy traffic ahead when there isn't, or worse show's green where there's heavy stop-and-go traffic so I don't get the opportunity to avoid it. Other regions may be better, but in Southern California, it sucks. A dumb move on Lexus' part. i would gladly go back to paying $85 for a 2 year subscription to Sirius traffic.

The other thing that seriously ticks me off on the NAV system is that it assumes you drive the speed limit when calculating travel time. In all 3 of my prior LS's, you could set the default speed in the NAV system to be used in the ETA calculation, so if you drove 75 or 80, the system would account for it and you'd get a realistic ETA. I mean seriously, why would you take a feature like that out? I magically pick up 15-20 minutes on my commute to work every morning.

Default Apple CarPlay | Lexus+Alexa - Multimedia Enhancement

Lexus- Apple CarPlay / Lexus+Alexa - Multimedia Enhancement on 2018 LS 500 is now available at your local Lexus dealership. (unfortunately not all of the dealerships are on board yet... I live in the suburb on Philadelphia PA., and called three dealerships before I found one performing the Software Update) The price is $199.00. Procedure should take 1-2 hours. My Appointment is Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 9am... so I've update you later in the week.

I spoke with my dealer and they stated $199 not sure where the free is coming from, I would love it to be free as it should have come with the car.

I would take it up the chain

My sales lady confirmed multiple times it's free, my technology specialist confirmed it was free

And to be honest, I wouldn't accept any answer except free.

If I were you I'd just drop off the car with a note on the windshield and the keys on the dash. Let them take care of it.

Spoke with a Lexus corp, they stated it is a $199 because the car did not come with it so it was $199 less without the feature. She also stated that it is up to the dealership to waive this so maybe I need to contact my selling dealership and have them do this for me.

The Toyota Camry community went through this yesterday .

1. You can register on Toyota TIS and get a two day subscription ($65.00), download the update to your computer, decompress the zipped folder and copy it on a USB Flash drive. The instructions for the update are in the TSB PDFs.
You must have the engine running during this update, it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hr depending on the head unit your car has. The process is simple and you do not need the dealer because it is only a software install.

At the end of the instructions it says to Reload the Lexus eOwners Manual. Anyone know where to find this?
