I see the Costco discount discussed in other threads. How does one invoke the costco discount? Is it done up front through costco? Do you let them know about costco after you've done your own negotiating? Is it able to be combined with other discounts/incenctives?

I inquired about 10 dealers in southern and northern California, many of them say they do not offer it. But some say they do. I did not get to the final purchase, only got quoted about $5-6K off for Costco member. And they mentioned that it might involve the Costco rep. I was told by my 25 year car shop owner that Costco gets the best pricing. At the time, I was also offered with competitor incentive and cash bonus.

That is simply not true. However negotiation/research is more work vs Costco/truecar/autonation etc.
