I had an LS500 for 4 days. Dealer reserved it for me to take home for a few days and ended up spending a weekend in Orlando with it. I put 600 miles on it before I brought it back and completely agree with your engine section of this review. It never seemed to take off like I wanted it to. It took a second to launch when flooring it but when it launches it goes! I could definitely tell the difference between the V8 in my LS460L and the V6 twin turbo in the LS500. It didn't really pull me to my seat like i expected when launching but was still a lot of fun to drive. I kept it in Sport mode the entire time of course but did mess with the other modes and each had noticeable differences.
The interior space of the LS500 was a HUGE issue for me as well. I am 6' 3" and found myself almost hitting my head every time I stepped out of the car. The one I had did not have the panoramic roof option and I still felt like the back seat did not have enough headroom so I could only imagine how you felt. Granted I wouldn't be sitting in the back, I still felt "trapped" in the driver seat and my wife immediately said mine felt bigger when she sat in the passenger seat.
I have to say I did like the "ride" of the LS500. If floated just like my LS460L and felt smaller than it was when driving it (if that makes sense).
My Dad just got a 2018 750 and the differences are very noticeable. I personally am not a BMW fan (due to past experiences) but felt like his car had A LOT more interior space and reminded me more of my LS460L's cabin space. The V8 in the BMW felt A LOT more powerful then the 6 in the LS. The car definitely pulls you back in sport+ mode but it also felt as large as it was. The interior is out of this world. The ambiance lighting, the comfort, the space....BMW did a great job with this and reminds me more of the S-class's amazing interior.
I can say that when I pulled up to the Four Seasons in Orlando everyone was in awe. I had a guy that walked out of a Dawn walk up to me to ask me questions about the car and the valet driver said he has been waiting to see one of these. Mind you there were Porsche, Bentleys, Lambos, etc. parked up front and the LS surprisingly got a lot of attention.
Overall, I am actually a fan of the LS spindle grill and how aggressive it looks but the V8 power is missed and the interior is lacking compared to the other flagship sedans. The one I drove had an MSRP of 102k. It had all of the bells and whistles my LS460L has with the addition of the massagers and some cool passenger features. I loved the sound system (holy crap). They did a great job with that and the speakers in the headliner were great! I am a loyal Lexus owner and have had great experiences with all of the Lexus cars I have owned compared to the BMW and Mercedes flagships I have owned in the past so as of now my intention is to own one of these in a year or so when I can grab a used 2018 with low miles and a good warranty. The 750il was really nice but still read horror stories from BMW owners so will have to see how the 2018 treats my dad before every considering it.

That's why we opted for the 20' upgraded rim; the whole package, especially with tinted windows we did after the purchase, is much more cohesive for the new LS 500 now. By the way, we loved this new and much improved LS.
Yes I agree...the rims were horrible. I honestly am not a fan of any of the rims they offer but prefer the 20's. The tint does wonders though! The car did not feel like a 102k car. When I sat in and drove my Dads 2018 750il...it felt like 115k.

Your rims are beautiful and make the car look entirely different. I'm just shocked that Lexus puts the same rims as their base model on one that is nearly $30k over the base model.
