Am I the only one who is completely unimpressed with the decision to replace the reliable, proven, V8 with a twin turbo V6?

When I bought my 2015 LS 460L, I made that decision over the BMW 750 Li because of reliability issues. I heard nasty things about five figure annual repair bills for the Bimmer, along with regular visits to the shop. The Lexus didn't excite me, but it seemed to be the more rational choice.

Taking a chance on a new, souped up V6 does not give me warm fuzzy feelings that I will be buying a car that will go 12 years with fluid changes, brakes, and tire rotations.

A great many people are unhappy with the choice to use the TTV6, and they are very loud about their displeasure.

I think ultimately though it will be fine.

It's a Toyota product I have my confidence in it. TT V6 doesn't automatically mean it wasn't built well by Toyota. A well maintained TTV6 will last just as long.

Toyota will eventually get it right, but I wouldn't buy the first year. Toyota has had some stumbles with first year products.

I was against the v6 until I spent the last few months with the Acura TTv6. It growls like a 12cyl and claws to 60 in second gear like no ones business. I do believe the v6 can be a powerful and nasty piece

Oh it definitely can be, the R35 VR38 TTV6 in stock form has an amazing powerband. My buddy has a built VR38TT making north of 1K whp which is way beyond stock but it's still not violent like I expected.

Toyota has been making Turbos since the 1980s. I am sure they know that they are doing. The current Land Cruiser diesel is a V8 and I am sure if they can get that right, they can get the LS500 turbo right as well.

I think it will be reliable judging how well engines like the 2JZ-GTE and 1JZ-GTE.

i will say that this engine would be a nice option for the GS, RC, and LC.

Wait for them to develop the v8? What the hell have they been doing over the last decade?
