2008 LS 460 starter won't disengage
My 08 460 after a 700 mi trip was turned off when I arrived at my destination. 10 minutes later I hear the car cranking over but not starting until it killed the battery almost. I then started the car which I heard the starter not disengaging again once I turned it off the starter kick back on trying to start the vehicle again until I pulled the negative off the battery. Starter was replaced with a OE starter from Lexus about 8 months ago. Check the fuses they are good was wondering if it could be solenoid or I have to replace the whole starter? Again I am 700 miles from home and doubt I can get in to an appointment anytime soon and I'm afraid of damaging the flywheel if I drive it.

Your post is confusing, the starter cranks but doesn't engage the flywheel is that what's happening?

Is your car trying to start without you pushing the button? Your composition is hard to understand and follow. If the battery was run down to almost dead, you probably blew some fuses. There are multiple fuse blocks in this car. You may need to check more fuses.

The starter should be under warranty from any :Lexus dealer, less than 12 months since replaced. Don't drive it until repaired.

You may have a bad starter relay. I'm assuming there is a relay for the starter in one of the boxes under the hood, normally there is .
If you're asking how to get home.... Connect the battery start the car then remove the starter relay. Removing the relay may stop the starter from spinning. |
