I don't doubt it. In the video I saw they definitely pried the tire further from the wheel than in a normal tire replacement.

When you say you went with the specific ones, do you mean those offered by Lexus dealerships? Also, it's unclear whether Costco offers both metal and rubber valve stems, since jud149 got metal and you say that you got rubber from Costco.

Sort of, I had them order sensors from the same OEM as Lexus. They obviously have different versions available from store to store, my store had rubber stem generics. The other poster had metals at his.

Pretty sure Redi sensor doesn’t make an application for the LS. Costco sells the Dill sensor should be OE Sensor part number 1218. All across the country they are $74 at Costco. Install is $14 per sensor unless they are already installing tires.
On my GS when I first start the car it displays dashes until I put it in gear and start driving. I don’t remember if the LS has a full size spare but if it does check the air in the spare.

As i said initially, the dashes are intermittent. Yesterday, the coldest day of the year so far, 19° F the displayed showed all 5 tires properly. I would think if dash problem was due to a weak battery that it would display dashes when it was cold, and then display proper temp when they warmed up. But not the case, when very cold, and batteries would be weaker was working properly. Strange.

The wheel sensors are radiofrequency transmitters and anything that interferes with those signals would cause a problem like you are experiencing. You may be experiencing a Radio Frequency Interference problem. RFI can come from electrical appliances, fluorescent/sodium vapor lights, arcing electrical power lines, radio and television transmitters, cell phone sites etc. Just changing the location of the car gets you out of some problems. RFI can come from devices that are in your car and some possible sources would be radar receivers, personal communications devices, charging devices or some sort of tracking device.

Your owner's manual cautions you about this concern.

Thanks for the info. Very interesting. However the intermittency is not affected by my location. Also, i always have same electronics, specifically cell phone, and no radar detectors or other transmitters or receivers. Unless, just a long shot, unless someone has put a tracker on my car??? Is that s possible cause?

LOL. None of those apply. I guess it could be the actual transmitter in a TPMS and not the battery or the RF receiver in the car. Where is that located? I never have seen any threads regarding RF receiver problems. I think i will wait until I need tires and go to Costco for tires and replace TPMS at that time.

The TPMS receiver is on the inside of the car’s roof, below the sharkfin antenna. There have been reports in this forum of people changing the receiver but no reports that it solved any problems.

Dill sells/produces Red-Sensor. That's what I have in my '11 LS installed by Costco.

My bad I didn’t notice the LS Gen went so far back, but for the OP’s year it’s the Dill 1218.
