Default PCV valve or not

PCV valve on this 2007 LS 460? Where is it located and if not is there another unit performing this task and how do you replace it?

The PCV valve is located under the intake manifold. You have to remove the manifold in order to replace the valve.

Great, thanks. I was hoping to find a video on this one but looks like I might have to get a mechanic to do it.

You could but its not listed as a maintenance item. I thought about doing mine but changed mind due to its location. It in the valley of the engine.

I even bought one just in case.

If you remove the intake, make sure to replace the intake manifold gasket.

In terms of complexity, it is medium but time consuming. The biggest issues are the main harness and some connectors might have to be replaced if any get broken.

It may not be a maintenance item but sometimes they can need replacing, especially if a owner is not constantly using premium gasoline in their car because over time carbon can build up. I know most grades of gasoline have a treatment in them to help prevent it nowadays and maybe a gasoline treatment for this vehicle is not recommended.

Good information. Since I’m not experiencing a problem at the moment and I was just thinking about preventive maintenance I’ll just leave the PCV concern alone for now.

And reseal the valley plate, if it's not leaking now it will at some point

Yes, it is a great idea considering there is a full access to the plate after the intake manifold removal.

True. I wonder what the Lexus engineers were thinking when they put it there. In some Toyota V8s it almost in the same spot but you can reach it with a socket extension.

Here is some other info on this PCV. I am assuming you already read it.

Default What BS

The PCV is located to the left and a couple inches toward the firewall of the oil filler. I cleaned mine while cleaning the throttle plate. Pull the hose and put an open end wrench on it. Pull it and replace or clean with lacquer thinner, brake cleaner or carb cleaner. Shoot a little in and shack until the ball rattles, you are done put it back in.

Wow, that looks to be a lot more simple than taking the manifold off to do it. Thanks

I've read multiple posts here about PCV valve and they all agree that disassembly is required. Cavedog is the only exception.

I was wondering that too. What if the throttle body is removed, is there enough space to get to the PCV to replace it without removing the intake manifold? I never looked in such circumstances because I had a valley leak and the manifold had to come off anyway.
