after looking at how the intake runs in the stock LS460 on the 1ur-fse, couldnt you run a different style intake? Is there any benefit to running Single outside ram, to dual intake/filters on top of a hot engine, back to a single into the TB? How would a single aluminum pipe with large filter work? shoddy image for reference, either running a intake elbow with filter going left, right, or even straight forward, with help from modifying the current ram air to feed said filter? Any opinions welcome.
Using a single MAF sensor would be simpler but I wounder if Lexus struggled to develop a filter capable working with single intake port.
I just think there is not enough room in the engine bay to run that single filter like on the 400 and 430. The air actually takes a longer route to get to the engine. There's a lot of stuff crammed under the hood.
I was thinking along those lines too, though I did not know about the specifics 400 and 430 air intake systems. Ultimately, what matters is the distance between MAF sensors and combustion chambers. On other side, longer intake system causes higher air flow reduction, especially, at the bends.

Here's a mock-up pic that I saved a while ago when researching this topic. Perhaps it will serve to provide further clarification/ideas for this mod.....

On the 98-00 400 and 430 the filter is sitting behind the passenger headlight. The air comes in above the grille then goes to the right and come back to the middle into the engine. I can't remember if the 95-97 400 takes the same route but on the 89-94 400 the intake enters into the passenger side of the engine.
