Default Lexus (Transmission?) Noise when Accelerating

2009 Lexus LS460

Tried searching online but to no avail. Currently have a problem where when accelerating to a higher speed ~40MPH+, there would be a loud whirring/humming noise in the engine.

Noise sounds like a motor fan spinning rapidly making the whirring sound. Most noticeable when driving on the highway, but on local streets (25mph), there seems to be no noise.

The higher the MPH and RPM, the louder/more present the noise is. Not sure if it may be transmission as it automatically shifts gear.

Any help appreciated, would like to self-diagnose before having to bring to mechanic, money a little bit tight right now.

Does the transmission have any issues shifting gears? Does the noise come from the engine or transmission? How many miles do you have on your car?

The transmission has no issues shifting gears. TBH i'm not quite sure where exactly the noise is coming from, but what I do notice is that when I put the car in Neutral and step on the gas, the humming noise still occurs. The car is around 145,000 miles.

What if you press accelerator in park to reach high RPM. Do you hear the noise?

The wheel bearings on these cars are more common to make noise then the transmission. If the noise is still present in neutral I would venture a guess that 1 or more of the wheel bearings are to blame. Often times at lower speeds they are silent even when worn out.
