Air suspension to coilovers conversion kits warnings
Hi everyone,i have a LS460 2010 awd,I bought it one and half years ago,the previous owner told me he had replaced the air suspension with a Strutmasters conversion kit, when i test drove it I noticed the common noises in the front suspension, not knowing the price of the parts I negotiated the price a little($1000)while owning this car i have replaced the lower control arms with oem parts, the upper control arms bushings with Figs bushings, still the noise was there,so my mechanic says that the coils of the front struts have failed, when taking a look at the struts i decided to remove the sticker to see what brand of shocks they used,to my surprise i found that they are Unity struts(yes, those chinese struts you buy on walmart for $220 the pair)in their website Strutmasters claim that they use Bilstein,Monroe or KYB,what a ripoff company,it is a shame that there is not a decent brand of shocks making these conversions kits, supposedly Strutmasters made a better product that Suncore, now i have no options to replace these struts.....i have the pics but i can't find how to attach them to this post,if someone could please explain me how to do it i will post them

Reason: grammar
These are the struts i got,as yo can see they used Unity struts that you can buy for $220 the pair and just put their stickers on them,no wonder they started to make a noise after a few months,it seems like the coils are not strong enough for the weight of these cars

well of course lol you pay for what you get,... people should at minimum use kyb gas adjust and move up from there if they can find something suitable. There are brands like koni etc they don’t list our vehicles but I think people can find something suitable. If you can take sone detailed measurements I’ll do the experimenting and get a proper new and innovative solution for you guys out there, if you can do it, let me know I’ll tell you what I need. Thanks
well this kit of Strutmasters costs $1000 dollars, they claim on their website that they use KYB,Monroe and Bilstein shocks for these kits as well as einbach springs,my complaint is that instead of those brands they actually use Unity struts with you can buy assembled(just like the ones installed)for $420 the set of 4
Sorry those did not work out for. I saw them advertised on eBay and such.
I do not have air suspension on my 2011 AWD, however, I ordered some JVR coilovers (never heard of them) from coiloverdepot.com
( based in Dayton Ohio USA). for $999.00 shipped. From my research it is a Taiwanese company similar to BC Coil over. Very limited reviews however, few that are posted shows positive feed back on quality and ride comfort. These are 32 way and ride height adjustable.
Scheduled to be delivered on 04JAN2021. I will provide feedback on the quality and ride comfort. They provide a 1 year warranty.
This might be an option if you so chose.

and that’s exactly what I did. It clunks but it don’t bounce anymore.

why are people so into kits for 1000 you can buy the exact same kyb parts (mount, strut, spring) with Toyota other bits. And bring it to any **** shop to assemble and do the car part yourself or do it all yourself.
Kyb’s are not adjustable. All three sets of kyb oem Toyota struts have the same dampening. Too much high speed(the shock shaft not the car) compression dampening making you feel all the small bumps when driving and not enough low shock shaft speed compression dampening. Shocks blow through their travel and bottom too easily.
The MeisterR’s I put on my 08 sc430 fixed both issues. Small bumps are gone. Even adjusted firmer. The shocks are more progressive in their dampening and have greatly increased bottoming resistance.

because is hard to know all the parts you need to assemble it yourself,if you miss a small part like a washer you have to pay a mechanic to fix it(i don't have tools or space,i live in an apartment)

I want a suspension setup that is adjustable for both ride height and rebound/compression. The Strutmaster and the spring strut combo does not provide that option.
I would have gone with BC's but they do not offer a kit for the AWD LS460.

I told you guys I even posted a diagram so how can you miss anything. The compression rates reason from previous poster is interesting. Other than adjustable struts, which I’m addressing at a later time, can I fit 2 sets of springs on these struts like you see in some set ups and what spring would I use and what do I put between the springs ? Would this be a benefit in anyway ?
