Default Electric steering problems

Hello folks

2 months back I drove my ls460 2007 in Rain and then stopped in a gas station.when I came back I had a weird problem my steering red sign popped up car steering was solid and I couldn’t move it.I tried to turn on and off but no luck so I did google and found out a video that says like try to turn on the car at the same time try to wiggle the steering wheel
it should work and it did work and then I drove back home and woke up next morning it did again and I tried the same produces trying to rest it by starting the car and wiggling the steering wheel at the same time it worked!!!and a after that is did it couple times but later it didn’t do it I think it got dry and it didn’t do it maybe I’m not suRe but

Day before yesterday it rained again and I drove the car it started to do it again but when ever I try to rest it by starting the car and wiggling the steering it works fine but still it does it sometimes when I start the car any help anyone facing the same problem is it the power steering rack or is it something else

weld is how they join the metal, you can google “Lexus LS460L steering rack weld failure” or the water can get in from some other point make sure your steering rack boots have no holes, are installed properly etc, all your plastic shields in engine bay and under the engine are on and never drive through any significant amount of water.

it will come back just a matter of time

People need to realise that

1. electric power steerings are more prone to failure than a conventional one.
2. In a normal one you just open it all up flush it clean, change seals etc and you are done
3. ours is an electrical motor, and because of labour costs in the US and lack of skills elsewhere, something that you should routinely take off and service is no longer done. You only have the option to get a refurbished one and send back the core should be 500-600.
