2009 ls460 saved my life!!!!!
2009 LS460 shot by a .45 caliber
Went to my local mom and pops store to pick up a lotto ticket, sat back in my LS460 2009 with only 52,000 on the dash, and heard about 40 shots 2 secs after entering. I reclined my seat back to avoid the glass! After the gunfire I went home immediately to discover the next morning I had a bullet hole in my top right passenger rear door right between the roof and the glass! An amazing shot, the steel frame is what save me from the bullet entering the car so it ricocheted twice towards the trunk. Lexus thank you for the extra money you put into the frame and thanks to the most high for my life!!! RANDOM STORY but I thought you guys should see this amazing pic!! I will post updated pics of the repair tomorrow!!

You would have been totally fine, bullets don't bounce around inside cars, it's good though the angle was shallow and didn't mess more stuff up inside/send spall into the upholstery.
Even a round like .45 that doesn't penetrate all that well compared to .40/10mm or high velocity 9 is nothing like a rifle round that can literally pass through the entire car if you don't hit the A/B/C pillars or main drivetrain mass. A 7.62x51 with an M2 bullet can pass entirely through a 2003 Chevy cavalier from the front if you avoid the engine. 5.56 based guns usually can make it through as well but tend to sometimes fragment when passing through the doors with only 1/3 the round remaining intact. It's one of the things you are taught/learn early on when taking training for fighting in/around vehicles so you are aware of where to use for movement that provides some interference for incoming rounds. Most of the stuff you see on tv is flat out false.

No problem, it's my main hobby (shooting sports). I'm happy you have it fixed up and that you and your car are all okay again, my truck got shot at once when my dad owned it in his way back from Mansfield OH by an overpass. I'll see if he has pictures of the hole in the OE glass. Happened way back in like 06/07 time period lol!
