Paint protection (clear armor) is the only way to go if your looking to protect your car/paint. I have an '04 Acura TL with 150k on it now. The front end looks brand new! Not a mark on the paint or headlight lenses. It's worth the money. I'll be doing my new to me LS very soon.
I 2nd or 3rd using a clear hood bra/wrap. My 2007 I got with a little over 100K... it had a hood bra, I drove it till 244K, and the front end still looked new...
get a suntek paint protection film bra or Xpel , after its on for four or five days, you can put a ceramic coating on it w ease and it will look great, protect from chips, they are self healing even with scratches with heat making it repair itself. bug won't stick to it with the ceramic coating easily..
good luck
