Yeah it's annoying when things don't work the way they are supposed to work. So you tweaked your process and now it goes into recirculate when you start the car up now?

Yes, I think it must already go to recirculate by itself in AUTO mode when the Webasto starts the climate control during the pre-heating phase. Otherwise it would not warm up this well.
Next week, I'll try using the electric cabin heater again to see how the system reacts when it starts in AUTO mode but the cabin is already warm-ish...

Here's the phone app btw, for those interested in seeing it:

The control unit has GPS, so I can use the app to locate the car or set geo-fencing to make my pre-set timers effective only in a specific location. It also shows the cabin temperature and the battery voltage. "Lämmitin" in the centre means "Heater", which is the default mode of operation where it burns fuel to warm up the coolant. There's also a ventilation-only mode available for summer use. That got me thinking...these Toyota/Lexus hybrids generally have electric rather than belt-driven AC compressors. When the ventilation mode powers up the climate control, if the cabin temperature is higher than the setting, will the climate control use AC or only the fan? Remotely cooling the interior would be a nice feature for the few hot summer days here...

If the cabin is higher then the set temp then the HVAC will try to bring the temp down. What are AVG. winter temps over there?

It will try to bring it down, but I don't know whether it'll run the AC to do so or just power the blower. In ordinary cars the AC does not run without the engine running, but I've no idea whether the climate control in this car power the AC compressor when the car is off.

Average winter temp here in the south is around -5°C/23°F. This winter has been atypically warm; mostly over freezing point. There are really cold days occasionally but the temperature varies quite a bit. Helsinki record low is -34.4°C/-29.9°F while the record high is 33.2°C/91.8°F.

The AC in the 460 will not turn on unless the engine is running to turn the compressor just like any other car where the compressor is driven by the serpentine belt. It's been a very mild winter so far here also.

Mu '07 always starts in recirc mode - haven't figured out how to turn that off.
