Default Center screen light 2011 LS460

Hello everyone,
surrounding my navigation screen are 8 buttons, 4 on the left and 4 on the right.

The 4 on the right, from top to bottom are pasenger, map, dest, and info(phone).

When the lights go on these should all be illuminated. My top 2, passenger and map do not light up.

All 4 on the left side are lit.

Are there little bulbs behind these buttons?
How do you remove the buttons?
can i do it or do i need to go to the dealer?

The vehicle is a 2011 Ls460 with 39000 miles. I am bery fussy.

any advice will help.

thank you.

My guess is that there are no bulbs...I would think there would be LEDs burned into the circuit board.

To repair it you have to take the center screen out and its not worth it you can get the led bulbs very cheap but removing the dash and opening it up is a tough thing to do same thing happened with me with the trac , pwr snow button that was a easy task

Pulling the dash is the " easy" part. Taking the unit apart is a lil more involved, then trying to get it back together can be nerve wrecking. I have pics of mine completely apart. I'll post them later when I get to my computer if you want to attempt it.

Great to know.
so either leave them burned out or take it to the dealer?
i wonder how much a dealer would charge plus im scared they will not put it back together properly without breaking something else.

Recently a memeber purchased a 2007 Ls from carmax and he had the similar issue . Car max replaced the buttons but with differnt color leds (bright white) he ended up having two differnt color leds

Just bumping this thread up. One of my bulbs in the side buttons for the map burned out. Dealer had to send out unit to fix it. Been a month no car or part returned yet. Bad design in my opinion. Should be easier to remove it and replace the bulb. No reason it should be a $1500+ repair for a burnt out bulb if you have no warranty.

Hello LS430FL, your car has been parked at the dealer for a month? I would be getting very anxious!

That's a lot of money to replace burned out dash lights! I am guessing you have extended warranty. I bet it feels good to have that investment pay off!

Yes extended CPO warranty covers it or I would have never done it. The problem is once I noticed it every time I drive at night I always notice it and sometimes it flickers drawing my attention to it. The warranty has paid over at least 6 times the purchase price maybe even more. Best thing I ever did. But yes I am anxious and annoyed that it has taken this long. A month and 5 days already. I do have a brand new RX loaner but really can't compare to the LS.
