Default KYB strut assembly......

A strut “assembly” should contain the spring too. Is this correct?

Can’t seem to find the KYB strut and spring together for the 2007 Ls460.

Is there anyone who can shed light on this?

KYB only makes the strut. You would need to reuse the spring which never needs to be replaced. Honestly I wouldn't trust any of those aftermarket "Quick Struts" The springs are far inferior to oem

Hi Sportz, I second JLaws comment about the springs not wearing out and needing to be replaced,

And so my mechanic not not order in new springs on my recent suspension rebuild.

Heres my problem. Just had all the suspension parts put in. Staggs struts, aftermarket control arms.

The rear looks fine. The front has an EXTRA 3” gap in the wheel that is highly noticeable.

My mechanic said, I could buy the KYB strut but to buy the whole assembly (because he got rid of old springs that were on there). And then he’d charge me only $90 per side on the front.

I still don’t know if this would lower it to normal height. He did say the Staggs struts matched up evenly with the old ones when he installed.

I literally don’t know what to do.

I only bought the Staggs based on roadfrog’s glowing review. I should have spent the extra $350 for the KYB. My mistake....and I’m paying for it. The ride feels firm, handles better, but is not soft over bumps.

front is always higher then the rear, in that photo it doesn't look THAT far off from OEM

Did you use aftermarket springs or re-use your OEM's?

Regarding the struts , I have no problem buying Chinese stuff, including tires (sometimes) but on crucial areas like suspension, engine , especially when its a lot of labor to replace, I will always try to go with the best name brand possible.

I purchased KYB struts and tannabe lowering springs for my air to spring conversion (haven't done it yet), KYB does not make springs for our cars

PSB bushings for my front control arms as well, the Chinese brands were tempting but these types of jobs are best done once and not repeatedly every few years.

It is a VERY noticeable difference. My question is, if I purchase KYB struts to replace the Staggs struts in the front, will it fix the huge wheel gap?

I don’t know what my next step should be. It’s driving me crazy.

Hold on, I don't think your mechanic is truthful. The Stagg struts don't come with its own springs. You bought what is pictured below, correct? if so that means he had to use the old factory springs and strut mount. You can redeem yourself by getting the 2 front KYB gas A Just struts. The front suspension takes the brunt of the wear. I changed the fronts first with KYB and the ride was amazing. I changes the rear a year later and there was a improvement in handling but the comfort was about the same.

I think your mechanic doesn't want to go thru breaking down the front struts again. It easier to pop in a fully assembled strut.

He did mention it’s a lot easier if I have it all assembled and he’d only charge me $90 per side.

I didn’t get a quote yet for what it will cost since it won’t come assembled.

Do you think the current ride height problem could be fixed with the KYB struts?

Mine looks like it has about 1 inch more clearance.
