Recall Notice - DCM Reprogramming
Mr. "emg2919" since you are taking your car in tomorrow for service, could you please ask your dealer while you are there, what years, and models does this recall is applicable to, and should everyone who has a navigation system in their car be worried or be effected? Please let us all know what they recommend/tell you. We, here at the forum, collectively thank you.
I got the letter for a 2015 ES and a 2017 GX. You only need to have the work done if you subscribe to Safety Connect where they send help if you are involved in a crash. If you do not use Safety Connect then it does not matter as they aren't going to send anyone out to help you. I have Safety connect on both those cars.
Had a great experience at Wesley Chapel Lexus in Florida. Back in the Lexus saddle again with a CPO, 2017 LS460 in Black/Black. Purchased at Lexus of Orlando, but thought I'd give Wesley Chapel an opportunity to do the software update ala DCM. Called for an appointment and slotted for 2:00PM, with an indication it would take two to three hours. Upon arrival, after an hour on the road, was informed it would take approximately five (5) hours! My Service Advisor Bobby King, said, "Not to worry" and provided a 2019 ES350 overnight loaner. Returned in the morning to find my LS had been washed, the gas tank topped off, and a chilled bottled of water in the cup holder! Oh! and the update had been performed. Love my Lexus!
I got this done, took 2 hours. I asked the SA about specifics, but she was pretty vague. I don't think it was intentional, she just wasnt all that sure. She did say she's seen the RX, ES, GX models come in to get it done. She didnt know much more than that...
I got the message as well for my 2015 GS350 F Sport. As stated above it only applies if you subscribe to Safety Connect. In a nutshell, due to incorrect programming in the DCM software, after 2 November 2019 the GPS coordinates the that system will be calculated incorrectly. Thus not being able to send Emergency services for a collision, roadside assistance, or stolen vehicle locator. I also noticed on the Lexus app that my last parked location was off after 2 November 2019. Service scheduled to fix issue in 2 days. If you don’t have the service then your car is fine. The GPS while driving still works and is accurate.
Lexus called me a day before my appointment to have this work done. She said this involved the SOS system to which I don't subscribe. So, it doesn't effect the nav system, which was my initial understanding. Therefore, I cancelled the appointment.
