Default Shudder issues

My Ls 460 started shuddering suddenly. I thought it was the plugs but it’s not.
my mechanic recommended me to get a transmission flush to see if it helps.

He thinks it’s the converter, but to give it a try. Anyone ever had this issue? What’s the damage to get a transmission flush at the dealership?
thanks!

By the way, the symptoms are that the car shudders between 20-45 mph. Not a problem at high speeds.
I replaced the radiator about a year ago and a bit of transmission fluid leaked out while installing it. Could this be the culprit?

If it is, then never mind.

dont know how many miles your car has, but unless your mechanic is promising you a new tranny if the flush F's it up I would not do a flush... everyone here and everywhere say that flushes should be avoided. drain and fill or fluid exchange.

A drain and fill fixed that issue for me. NOT a Flush.

Issue ended up being the torque converter in the tranny. That was my biggest nightmare, and I was hoping that was not the issue.
I’m very disappointed in the vehicle.

will need to look at other options if any besides the $9000 quoted price to fix at the dealership.

very disappointed.

I wish you knew the condition(smell and color) of the ATF, by chance did your tech give you a clue as to that?
Could give you a clue as to condition!
Sorry for your troubles, it sucks to have the issues you have had .

They just said the tech was certain it was the torque converter. They recommended a tranny system replacement and that they couldn’t do a converter replacement because Lexus did not allow that. Recommended to look at a tranny shop elsewhere for for that to get more life out of the tranny.

I was hoping it was another thing. My best option is to find a good used tranny and somehow do a swap.

Did you do a drain and fill? If you didn't then do that, please. Just do it.

The staff was great!
