Help me value a 2007 LS460L
I just found a 2007 LS460L in pristine condition, only 15k miles, clean service history on Lexus site and no accidents. It does not have any feature packages, essentially a "base" LS460L. No air suspension and it is RWD. Single owner vehicle until purchased by the current used car dealer. How much does everyone think this car is worth?
In December 2018 I bought a 2007 LS460L RWD, self park, ML, heated cooled reclining rear seats, special leather, 81,000 miles, extra set of OEM Lexus rims with snows, excellent condition, one owner, no air suspension, good history for $13,000. I thought I got a very good deal.
As I’m sure you’re aware, 15K is freakishly low mileage. A stripped down “Base L” is almost more freakish. My price SWAG would be that the dealer figured he stuck a fat hog with the low miles and he has a price of $20,500 on it. I would bet, right or wrong, somebody out there would pay $17,000. Think of the cost per mile the original owner paid.

car with that mileage is worth between 18-22k retail
these cars are rare and desired,
wholesale means nothing to own a car of this caliber and have it for 300,000 miles with no major headaches
its worth what supply and demand is
if its an L, just put money away for air suspension

I agree with the pricing. I'm concerned about the very low mileage. Probably just parked somewhere for years.
That’s exactly my experience, I have bought a 2007 with 21000 miles two years ago, pristine condition, the car spent a lot of time stored in a garage, apparently the original owner got sick and eventually passed, his son took it to a Ford dealer and traded for a new Ford. I have 38000 miles now and I’m very happy with it, regardless of the options If I would be you I will buy it, I don’t think it will be on the market for long...

Okay, so per the Lexus Owners site, this vehicle has the features listed below. With respect to the upgraded head unit in the 2010+ years, can I simply use a GROM and get equal or better functionality? I know that in 2013+ the display is much larger and has a split screen which is a whole different story. I do know that I despise the Factory Navigation in my LS430 and I think the 2007 LS460 Navi is very similar . . .
Also, isn't it the case that the 2010-2012 still have issues with the brake actuator and the control arm bushings?
In general, given the choice of a newer vehicle with higher miles or an older vehicle with lower miles, I would choose the older vehicle with lower miles (within reason). The analysis is simple, a vehicle with fewer miles is less likely to have been abused or not properly maintained and even it the maintenance was not perfect, the opportunity for wear on the mechanical parts is less with fewer miles. Secondly, if the life of the vehicle (in terms of miles driven) is the same for any specific vehicle of the same model, then I should be able to drive many more miles on a car purchased used with fewer miles, thereby bringing my cost/mile driven down. I like this car I found a lot, I just wish it had a few more features, such as radar cruise and reclining rear seats, and that the price was a bit lower. I'm pretty sure that it will need the brake actuator, control arms and new interior panels to correct the "sticky" issue, given that these repairs have not been made and that it is a 2007.

Abs- I like your analysis, that was my thinking when I bought my 2007. Short of a few more gadgets, I “Feel” the older, low mileage cars, give a greater value. I believe it’s hard to argue with low miles. Anybody that has gone over on leased car miles, or tried to buy miles up front knows that miles are expensive, and important. I have seen many forum posts about control arm and actuator failure on newer models. I believe more will follow as age and mileage catch up with them. Additionally, my 2007 has no cabin wind noise; none. I bought the car from the original owner and they said it was never a problem. I’m currently at 83,000 miles with the original actuator and control arms. Actuator makes zero noise, no problems. The CA bushings are starting to crack, but they are still serviceable. Not all actuators go prematurely, it may go to 150,000 with regular flushes. If yo do buy the car, I would preemptively keep my eyes open for a wrecked L in a salvage yard with the leather covered door panels. It would still cost some money, but I bet you could negotiate a pretty good price buying all four.
Good luck!!
Good luck!!
Updates. Seller is willing to do $18k. The car sat for years, original owner was elderly, current owner is the second owner, purchased from the original owner's family. 2nd owner has put 8k miles on the car in the last 8 months. He installed a new battery, new tires and 4 wheel alignment. The rest is all original, car looks pristine. My only concern is that the first documented oil change on Lexus Owner was at 11k miles.
Thoughts on this deal?
Everyone, thanks for the input and advice so far..

Go and check the car, the overall condition will tell you a lot, I’m not so sure why there are no records of the car maintenance, you may want to eventually check this, again don’t be impatient, there are cars there....
the thoughts and consensus is ***** in your court, if you fall in love with it, color, ride etc buy it
everyones opinion is not valid
i personally would buy a well serviced 2010-12 with 50 or 60 k on the clock for 18-20

Everyone opinion should be valid if is based on experience, I guess that’s the reason of these forums, otherwise we would rely on dealers....which....but in the end it is your decision....we try to help.
