08 LS460 Won't start acts like battery is dead

I have a 08 ls460 I replaced the ml amp in yesterday, the radio worked for about 10 mins then went silent again. I checked the 30amp fuse under passenger dash and it was blown so I replaced it with another 30amp fuse as soon as it plugged in it blew. I then put a 50 amp fuse in "that's all I had" it didnt blow but said battery was low then everything went dead. I checked my battery and it's good, nothing works on dash it won't start or light up but my seats work and driver rear window rolls up and down but that's it.

well what changed...clearly if there’s nothing else in the equation we need to know about like car having sat for a while etc.... I would hazard a guess is that something shorted out when you installed the amp.. did you miss anything ground everything?

I assume you did the basics and disconnected the battery etc and reconnected? If the fuse blew once that should have already told you there’s a problem. 2nd time should have made you stop right there but then you gave it a bigger fuse so whatever was causing the problem could send the rouge voltage to the rest of the system ?so who knows what else you blew in the process? You do know what a fuse is for right? That’s your first warning and line of defence...

possibly the amp is not in good condition. do you see any rust stains anywhere on the amp

THEunderPSI May 15, 2026 07:44 PM

The car probably burned up.

Congrats, you promoted something else in that 30 amp circuit to fuse. Now you need to go find it

What did you replace the ML amp with? Another ML amp? New or used?
You replaced the amp. The new one is blowing your fuse. The amp seems to be your problem.
