I am looking at a 2011 LS 460 with 60K miles on it. The price is in the low twenties but the car had 3 owners should I be concerned? I had mechanic look at it since I am not very car savvy. It checked out after I was encouraged to asked to have both lower control arm cracked bushings replaced by the Mercedes dealserhip that sold the car. I thought the mileage was great for a 2011but what do you all think about the price and so many owners?

 

 

Is low 20's $23.5K or $20K out the door? There can be a big difference when talking price. I would not worry much about 3 owners if the car checks out and was properly maintained, it is not all that uncommon with lease turn ins, quick ownership for a few years and getting something different, etc to have a couple owners on a 8 or 9 year old car.

You definitely want to have the control arm bushings really checked, have it put on a lift for a little while, then drive it with the radio off over some speed bumps and cut the wheel back and forth hard to see if you hear any creaking, I test drove a LS460 that was not making any noise until after it was taken off the lift, then it started making all kinds of suspension noises and suddenly the Lexus mechanic was recommending $3000 to replace a bunch of suspension parts. I noticed someone had sprayed some kind of lubricant in the wheel wells to quit the suspension down.

If it has cracked control arm bushings, take a thousand dollars off for each one from your offer because that is about how much the Lexus dealership will cost or make sure the Mercedes dealership will replace them.

 

 

 

If you like it and had it checked out by a Toyota/Lexus dealer or trusted mechanic and it checks out then I would go for it if you like it, I might try to get them down to around $22 or $22.5 out the door and save about 500 to 1000 for any issues you might run into. I would get it checked out by someone before you buy, don't just trust the dealership, have them show proof they replaced those control arms too. I would not worry about 3 owners, I saw a lot of used cars with 2, 3, 4, even 5 owners when I was looking, not that unusual especially with leasing being so popular.

 

You didn't say whether it was AWD or not but for a RWD 2011 MMR is $16,300 adjusted for miles. $21,300 is full retail price. I don't think that's is any kind of a good deal at all Ideally, you want to be somewhere in the 18's.

 

Sounds like a good car. If you like it I would not worry to much about the MRR, wholesale, retail etc. When I first started looking I came across a car that was configured exactly how I preferred including color combo. I hesitated because it was a little bit over what all the pricing tools stated. Ended up losing that car and took me another 4 months to find a similar car. So if it is what you want and you think it is a good deal based on your research then.... Good Luck.
