Techstream and TIS educate me please
The techstream seems to be a dedicated OBD system for the LS.
What all does Techstream do?
Is TIS subscription required to use techstream?
Are there any aftermarket readers for the LS which can perform the functions without a subscription?
I am getting ready to get a key and bleed the brakes. I believe I need Techstream to perform these functions correctly or pay a locksmith or shop to perform thes jobs.
Thanks
Rich

Do a search for Techstream. There is more info than you would care to know. No you do not need a subscription to use it. You can get it online along with the cable you will need. I have both Techstream which I run on an Windows XP laptop and I also have Carista on an iPad I can use the Techstream on both my LS 460L and my SC 430 but I cannot use the Carista app on the iPad on the SC only the LS. The software can be a real PIA to get loaded and up and running.

Thanks for the reply.
I have done a search but had trouble deciphering fact from fiction.
Techstream is mentioned in so many threads about repair but I saw in the of explaining capability, requirements or specs.
Does it require an xp based laptop? Will windows 7,8,10 work?
Thanks

It depends on which version you get. This is the eBay seller I bought mine from:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-VCI-J2...frcectupt=true
It works flawlessly for me on 64-bit Windows 7. There are cheaper ones out there but this one works for sure.

It is dependent on what type of laptop you are going to run it on. A 64 bit or a 32 bit. There are 2 versions of the firmware built into the cable which cannot be changed. A version for a 32 bit machine and a version for a 64 bit machine. You can make a 64 bit machine version run on a 32 bit machine but it requires you to make changes in the registry which you do not want to attempt to do unless you really know what you are doing. You will receive a cd which will have the drivers for the firmware version based on which type of machine you are going to use. Also on the cd will be the Techstream software and a code key which is a 33-34 digit code. Do not confuse the cable driver software with the cable firmware built into the cable. I think there are 13 something versions of Techstream. Some guy could not get the latest version 13 software to run on their machine and had to use a version 11 or 12. It is not hard but can be a real PIA especially if you are not real good on a computer.

Find a Toyota dealership nearby and see if they can bleed the brakes and get the key programmed. It might be less headache then trying to figure out how to use Techstream.

Can someone with Techstream experience please advise what firmware version is required for the 2007 LS460?
if it matters, I will be using a Laptop running a 64 bit version of Windows 10.

I have a 2008 LS460L. Bought the cracked techstream from DIAGKING on amazon. Waay to complicated for me to load onto my windows XP laptop, so let them load it via teamviewer. After a couple tries and unable to work, I was told I needed the 1.4.1 version VIM. Returned the 2.0.4 for 1.4.1 and now working.
Good luck.
Good luck.
