Default Motor Mounts & Transmission Mounts

Hey fellow CL members, I recently took my 2009 base LS with 99500 miles in for a new dash and the dealer did their "complimentary" inspection. Came back and you would have thought my car was about to explode! They said my water pump was failing, oil leak on the gas pumps (I knew this was happening) and both motor mounts and transmission mount had failed or were close to failing, the rear brakes needed replaced ( I have a set just need to get around to installing them) the rep explained pricing on all options and I zoned out when the costs surpassed $5k. I changed the water pump, radiator, thermostat, and gas pump gaskets myself over the weekend, they did all need replacing, and I broke the plastic nipple on the radiator when doing the water pump, it was time though as it easily snapped right off.
My question is regarding the motor mounts and transmission mount. I am sure they are correct and could kick myself for not thinking of them sooner. I had all of my control arms changed at my once very trusted Indy shop (whom I will not be back to) and immediately after the car never drove the same, I think they may have damaged them somehow as they did not know what they were doing when they changed the control arms (I know control arms do not require lifting the motor or transmission however after the service my indy shop was talking about having to take the steering rack out to change them). All this aside the mounts have traveled 100k miles so its likely they would go. I want to know if anyone has changed them their self or a local indy they recommend in the DFW. Also if anyone has thoughts on replacement mounts for the car, factory parts are best however I don't want to pay an arm and a leg either. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I think OEM is the only option for the mounts. I also believe the rack should not need to come out. Overall is still labor intensive.

Very funny you post this as I logged on to give an update to a thread that i started the other day. I just got my 13’ LS460L back from JM Lexus after replacing all motor mounts and transmission mounts.

I will I’ll start by saying that I felt no issues with the car originally and it only has 37k miles. I will also add that after my 5 Lexus and 2 LS ownership stints this is the first time I am disappointed in the car.

i am only disappointed because I was apalled that they were saying this work was necessary on a garage kept vehicle with 37,000 miles that has been treated like a show car.

However they were right. The engine feels a lot smoother and I used to feel what felt like a slight shuddering under heavy acceleration on the highway and this is all gone. The car and powertrain are much quieter now. I recommend you go ahead and do them but I would go to an independent shop. I had them done at Lexus because they took care of it under the powertrain warranty, but it was a very expensive job. Over $4800.
