Default Need help deciding between these two Ls460

The 1st car is 2007 gold lexus with 50k miles on it, Mark Levinson sound system, comfort package. Selling for 15k at the dealership firm price. Car drives really good. Checked vehicle history, seems less frequent visits to lexus dealer compared to silver car 2nd owner car.

The 2nd car is 2007 silver lexus ls460 with 74k miles on it. Very good vehicle history report from lexus. Always serviced at 5k mile intervals. One owner old lady. Final price of 10.5k

Which car would you guys recommend. Both cars don't mention the brake actuator or control arms or sticky dashboard or wind noise issues being repaired in service history. I have a decent indy mechanic which takes care of my cars generally.

I am leaning towards the 2nd car since it's cheaper. However doesn't have mark Levinson sound system. Please provide your thoughts or suggestions

Thank you
Proud owner of 3 lexus so far. 😁

I'd much rather have the silver than gold, and at 50% more expensive the gold one isn't worth that premium IMHO.

Definitely the second car. Depending on where you live, you might also save on taxes (if you're actually buying it from the old lady - at least that's the case in People's Republic of Illinois).

No question the second car from the info you've provided. Have you inspected both of these cars and determined them to be in satisfactory condition? I initially looked at LS460s in the $15k range, however I found all of them very "used" with lots of wear.

The low miles, dealer sell and the best stereo in any car and 30% less miles would probably have me pick the gold.

interior condition would sway me more. Leather front seats lower cushions are $3k. Steering wheel is $2k. How new do you want? Factory acoustic windshield is $1200

if the older lady was skinny the interior might be nice enough to sway me.

my 08 had large previous owners who squashed the front seats and broke down the foam. Abraded the door side of the leather heated steering wheel. Wore the center console leather top cushion.

found a unicorn on the internet from a 44k mile parted out 08 LS 460. An unworn leather area steering wheel for $109.

May save that one for later. Mine might be paintable

MMR on the gold car is $11,950 assuming a cost-neutral CR of 3.2. Expected retail is $16,650.

MMR on the silver car is $10,800 with a cost-neutral CR. Expected retail is $15,550.

A 1.0 swing in CR either adds or subtracts $1k from MMR.

Clearly, the silver one is the better value here assuming the cars check out. You have to ask yourself if the ML system is worth $4k to you. From what you posted, the history looks better on the silver car as well. Good luck!

seems like you have found couple nice cars.

i agree with some of the comments already posted about color that's subjective to what you like

what interior is in better condition?

the other things to look at if they both have a good service history

was spark plugs changed on either car? its a $500 job

brakes done with pads or pads and rotors on either car?

lastly i would leave you with the levinson is nice but not great, i am appreciating its clarity but it is underwhelming so dont let that sway you

also the comfort package the cool seats are nice touch but in my 2010 they have about half the flow of the newer generation cars on market with a/c cooled seats.

i dont know in 2007 if it came with heated steering wheel you might enjoy that in the cold

seems like if the less expensive one is driving well and has good history take a deeper look

forgot to mention for me one of the most valuable pieces of searching for an ls is the amazing paint work on these cars and how beautiful the cars are in a subtle way

check to see if the panels on either car were painted or hit or if they are original..

if original and car never hit front or back you have a nice car for the money

good luck

I'd go for the silver LS as long as it was in good shape inside and out. The gold color looks dated to me. Have you inspected and driven both cars? Have you considered a newer model year to avoid some of the issues that were common with the 07-08 MY cars?

would pick the silver one and save the $4500 for possible future repairs.

I agree, assuming the car has clean review from your mechanic.
I actually like that the silver car has a few more miles showing regular use, given the owner. I bought my 07 with 72k mi in late 2017 from an 85 yr old female client of mine who had driven it regularly (and had it serviced regularly), she just did not take many long trips.

Recharge the a/c, change plugs, replace the rotors and pads with less grabby non warping akebono parts and use Costco top tier gas and drive it hard to clean up both injector circuits. Otherwise you will notice a hesitation.

driving them hard also broke in both our 08’s shocks.

engine runs better and so does the suspension if driven hard and go up driveways aggressively.

took 20k miles in 9 months to improve mine.

low a/c charge had the car surge at lights with light brake pedal application due to compressor cycling on and off from low charge.

on the non ml car adjust the three sliding controls for sound alll the way up.

add sat radio and the premium sound stereo wakes up quite a bit.

Agree with Silver. The mileage for that year car is low. As for sticky seats, you most likely can get a new interior at no charge with an inspection at your local Lexus dealer.

Do you have links to them?

I agree with most, I would take the silver, not a fan of gold cars and you are saving a lot of money going with the silver. Unless the golds condition inside and out is a lot better I don't see much reason to go with the gold one, definitely would not pay that kind of premium just for 25K less miles for cars that are pretty equal everywhere else.

Thank you everyone for the feedback . Sounds like silver car is the winner here . I am looking for post 2008 ls460s but the pricing on 2007 models is seems more tempting . Not sure if the brake actuator , control arms , ML hard disk issue was a prominent problem on most 2007s which came out that year . Also heard people mention about the wind noise issues in these models
