Another One Bites The Dust
Not the LS460 but my ownership of it. I have been contimplating making a move for awhile now. I feel owning a car in Denver is a losing proposition. The streets are all potholes, ruts, manhole covers etc. I have found myself driving my wife's Jeep whenever she wasn't going anywhere. I was tired of crawling in and out of my steep driveway and scraping parking stops. I replaced every front end component and still could not stop all the noise. I love blind spot monitor and all the new technology but didn't have all that in a 2007. It was time so now for the bottom line. I bought a 2019 totally redesigned Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0 Turbo Ultimate. Loaded with everything no options even offered. MSRP $40,250 discounted to $35,000 plus tax. I loved the LS460 along with my LS 400 for the last 19 years and totally enjoyed these forums. I still plan on being a lurker and will probably chime in with only helpful or positive thoughts.

Congrats on the new Sante Fe! Definitely a practical vehicle for Denver! I've owned lots of Hyundais over the years, and have always found them to be very reliable and well built (not quite a Lexus, but very trouble-free). Hope you continue to "lurk" and contribute to our forum.

Nothing lasts forever...at 12 years old it was likely time. Congrats on the Santa Fe!

Well I went to Car Max first and they offered me $7500. The Hyundai dealer gave me 8k after much negotiation and with the tax incentive it wasn't too far off trade value. I also traded my 2006 ML350 because I won't be needing that dripping in my garage anymore with two very new SUV's. I might have gotten more for private sales but besides being lazy everyone needs to make a living and I'm pretty well set. The Santa Fe is quite a deal considering it's about 10k less than the Japanese competition and at least 15K less than Euro cars. I feel good about the smooth outcome. The warranty is 5/60 and 10/100k for powertrain. |
I leased a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited Ultimate sixteen months ago for my wife. We were looking at an Acura MDX and a Highlander. On a whim we stopped at the Hyundai dealer and ended up with the Santa Fe. What a great vehicle. Made me a Hyundai fan. I am a car guy so I am tuned into more things that others may not be. I am on this forum because I have a 2012 LS. Super car. By the way, subsequent experiences with the MDX showed me I wouldn’t have gone with it anyway and I am a hugh Honda fan. Very happy with the Santa Fe. |
Congrats on the new car and I wish you good luck with it. Yes, please continue to lurk and contribute. You and Chris have been valuable resources to this forum. |
Congratulations with the new ride! These Korean cars are getting refined by the year. Santa Fe is nice. Unsure if you had a chance to see the Palisade. I just saw it at the LA Autoshow and man it’s a sweet looking car with all the bells and whistles you would be looking for in SUVs for double the cost. Enjoy in good health! |

Congrats on the new purchase. I too am contemplating getting something to replace my current LS. Always wanted the executive rear seat and now that i have it, its hard to let it go but with the cars age will need to come something new.

Welcome to the "Lurkers Club". This active forum is something I miss with trading in my LS. Not much activity on the SHO forums. Congrats on the Hyundai!

Congratulations on the new car! I too decided to sell my LS after dealing with the front end issues, it just got tiring...never could really get the thing right. But a great car overall. Best of luck with the Hyundai. They've come a long way...will miss your many contributions here. |
