2008 LS460 - Please help me understand language on service history
HI all,
First of all, thank you for reading this question.
I'm a newbie and hope someone can help me understand this description highlight in the service history record on this LS460. My guess is that they say the bushings are cracked?
Thanks for all the help!

You could call the service department and reference the vehicle/date of service and possibly find out more information. I've read on other threads where they called and got a more detailed explanation of services performed.

Thanks for the quick response! Would the service department disclose the information to potential buyer? How should I go about it with the dealer? Thanks again

I agree with the OP's interpretation that 2 lower control arm bushings were diagnosed as being "cr[acked]." Is there any later reference to this in the service history?
Just call the service department at the dealer, give them the VIN, and tell them you're trying to determine what was done or recommended.

I'd agree with the "cracked" guess. REC stands for "recommended" or "recommendation". So they're recommending replacing the lower control arms due to them being cracked.

Does this mean the report include checking the bushings?

Then it most likely was not done. Use this as a negotiation tool to get the price lowered.

I don't see why not.....it is not confidential information. Just tell them you are in the process of buying the car and want to know if this has been fixed. While you have them on the phone, have them email you a quote.

You need to call the dealership and give them the work order numbers that are listed first on that service history from that dealership. Sometimes the service tech who types in the info writes in code. I checked on a 2007 SC 430 today as the servicer remarks used in "remarks" were not clear to me. 1 was the owner declined to address a "red hose issue" which really meant he declined to replace the water pump and 2nd they declined to deal with a "red drive belt issue" which meant they declined to replace the timing belt which should be replaced based on age not mileage which is 9 years or 90K. The SC was 11 years old but only had 26K on the clock. When I bought my 2010 LS 460L back in 2014 I called Lexus of Miami and they explained what each service meant that I had a question about. You are not looking for personal information only service history.

The LS460 has a timing chain, it does not need to be replaced as a maintenance item.
DJW was talking about an SC430 which has a timing belt.

When you call have the service history open(or have printed it out) in front of you. That way you can quote right off of the work order number which is the number listed upper left of each service. I always ask for the Service Manager or at least someone in the service department Not customer service.

Ok so the service consultant said it's their policy to not discuss any service record to anyone but the owner of the car. Should I call back and ask for the service department manager? This is Lexus of Santa Monica in Los Angeles.

I would call back. If you can get the service manger on the phone, try and work him a little bit (Hey Bob, how you doing,) I need a favor if you could. That you are looking at a sweet LS 460 that you are looking at buying from a private seller. That you reviewed the Lexus Driver service history and there is a service that you don't understand. You are not looking for any personal information just clarification/explanation of what the service on work order 123456 on 22 May 2017?. If it is a part installed that you have a question about then call the parts department and explain the same thing looking to buy saw this on work order xxxxxx and was not sure which part that was installed. Make sure they understand that you are not looking for any personal information just clarification on a certain service item. Good Luck
