Dealer to take back LS 460, 2007 dash issue

Good examples don't grow on trees. If this car is well cared for, and has a good history, I'd pay $1,100 to fix the dash.
His door panels are leather, so they won't be an issue.

It's too bad that Lexus reserved the leather dash only for the 600hL. I am tempted to get my dash upholstered. Do you all think a shop can cover the dash in leather as well as the door panels. There are many complex shapes on the dash compared to the door panels. Can these shops also mimic the stitching seen on the 600hL dash? I wonder what it would cost....

The leather dash on the LS600hL is about the only truly unique interior feature that differentiates the 600s from the 460s; Lexus probably wanted to keep it exclusive to the 600s to help justify the $35K extra price for the 600. I do like it on mine quite a bit. I've heard that some LS600hLs have had some issues with the leather dash (or glove box) coming "unglued" and forming a bubble. Luckily mine hasn't done that, and I'm careful to use a nice Coverstar windshield cover anytime my car sits in the hot sun for any length of time, so hopefully I'll never have that problem.

I'll bet it would be pretty pricy to cover your dash in a nice leather that mimics the LS600hL dash. I've heard the cost to replace the LS600hL dash (with the OEM Lexus part) is sky-high (maybe $7K or so?).

Nowadays, several cars have double-stitched "leather" dashes. So, it is too bad that Lexus did not even offer this option for the 460s. I know the 600hL replacement dash is super pricey, but that includes part of the front panel too. If they have to take off the dash to upholster it, then it will become a really expensive proposition. I should drop the idea...

I expect to be driving this car well past the expiry of my Platinum warranty in 2024. I truly have a unicorn
