Default LKA (Lane Keeping Assist) retrofit ???

https://euro.lexusownersclub.com/for...0hl-2007-2009/

Am I allowed to link to another forum here?

I saw this about lane keeping assist and was wondering if anyone has tried it in the US. It seems like for his car which I have no idea what model year it is... is as simple as a button switch... anyone wanna chime in?

Anything is "possible". It just might cost more than buying a new LS.

I am pretty certain that ClubLexus member Arvid successfully did this; just search for his threads. The key, however, is that your car needs to have certain hardware in place, specifically components of APCS (Advanced Pre-Collision System): the cameras that LKA uses and proper headlight assemblies (as there are additional sensors in them for the system).

These cars all have (I think) Driver Attention Monitor, which you can see right on top of the steering column in the post you linked to. Pre-2010, I think this was exclusive to the LS600hL, at least in the US.

I'll search for his threads, I do have PS
Lexus Pre-Collision System & Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
Driver attention monitor not so much.... does this steer your car in the lane and keeps you in the lane or only beeps at you

LKA is what keeps you in the lane. Driver Attention Monitor is supposed to beep at you, but (thankfully) I've never tested it.

You need Advanced Pre-Collision System, which is what brings the extra hardware to the mix...

Yeah I only have PC... I do not think APC was an option on my cars... in that year... but IF they were lol I wonder if I could do a retrofit haha...

Does the LKA system jerk steering wheel when it is activated?

No, it feels like a gentle tug on the steering wheel. No sudden sharp forces. It can feel a bit odd at times, but overall, I enjoy using the LKA function. The beeps when you stray over a line are a bit annoying but that's how you know that the system is doing its job. The LS500 also has Lane Trace Assist, which follows the profile of the car in front to keep the vehicle between the lane marks, which can be useful when the markings are absent or poorly visible.

i am guessing it would be prohibitively expensive to add APCS to the car?

IMO, it is just not feasible to add the stereo cameras and the software to your 2007 LS. Even if you could physically attach and wire the cameras and the steering wheel buttons from a 2008-2009 600hL or a 2010+ LS, the software running the system cannot be updated. When Lexus does not offer a software update for the 2014 LS to get the Nav screen features in a 2017 LS, it is extremely unlikely, regardless of cost, to get the APCS installed and the software functioning correctly in your car. It would be such a safety nightmare, I would be scared to even test it!

In closing, I will just quote Steve above.
Anything is "possible". It just might cost more than buying a new LS.

We just added a 2017 CPO RX350 to the garage and it has all those goodies. I'm impressed, especially with the lane centering on the interstate. LKA is good, but not 100%.

I have the driver attention monitor on my ls460l, but not sure if it’s turned on. What do I have to do to activate it???
