460 LS to 600 LS h L
well, due to dash issues my dealer will fix it or let me have a 600 h L for a bit more money. I paid 15400 for my 07 460 LS. The 2008 600hL is 22000. No dash issues on the 2008. Any thoughts... 94000 on my 460 versus 89000 on the 600 |
how much more for the 600h? what are they offering for your 460L? what's the condition of the 600h?
|
Fix the dash. You have leather door armrests so really nothing else to worry about.
|
Thanks for the advice, I think with the added complexities of the 600hL maybe I will fix the dash. The car is a real peach except for the slight tacky dash. The prior owners got two letters about the dash issues and did nothing to address it. |
They the dealer, will take mine back at 15,431 and I take the 600hL for 22,000. Lower mileage on the 600.
|
Yeah, I'd vote to get the dash replaced by the dealer.

I have decided to wait and see if Lexus will grant me a reprieve because prior owner never got dashed fixed after 2 letters. Also, if no clemency is granted I will replace the dash....Looked at a 2008 600hL they had and Dash was completely leather, not like mine at all. But sticker was 115K versus 72K for mine. Evidently that extra 37K got you a leather dash, not the **** they used on mine. |

I'll have to check out the dash in my 600h next week.

There are quite a few other nice features on the LS600hLs that make them worth more than the LS460Ls, in my opinion. I don't think they are worth $35K more (the price difference when new), but I think they are well worth the price difference now (around $3-4K) on a used 2008 model.
If you test drive one after driving a 460L, I think you would be impressed by the incredible torque you get from the hybrid motors, and the added weight of the batteries makes the car even more solid and composed than the 460Ls. Mine has the Executive Seating Package with ottoman, massage, wood table, etc. It is truly over-the-top cool! |
The glove box door on the 600h is also covered with the same bi-leather material as the dash. I noticed that on my latest acquisition the glue holding it flat on the door's curved surface has started to release in the middle. Other than that slight defect neither of my 600s are sticky, nor is my (now) son's LS460. I had not noticed the glue down issue until I started detailing it, but it must be fixed now or it will always bother me.
Has anyone else had issues with the 600h glove box door's clover coming unglued? I'm curious if the wrapped front can be separated from the main box so it can be glued back down. I suspect the purchase of a new door/box is not going to be reasonably priced. |

Yeah, I took a risk and got one with 126k miles. No recent battery exchange unfortunately but I factored that into the overall cost. A local southern california car might be an additional bonus.

At great risk to my financial well-being, I just checked CarGurus to see what kind of deals could be had on the early LS600hLs. It looks to me like the prices on the 2008s have been pretty stable for the past year (I traded my 2008 just over a year ago, and got $21,500 for it). Not much depreciation left in these cars, which makes them a great used luxury car alternative, if you can find one that has been well cared for.
I did see one that stood out in my mind - a 1-owner 2010 model with very low miles (36K). https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/invent...ting=208767522 |
