I'm going to be running Amsoil Ea filters. Right now I have a Purolator Boss in there. Toyota also sells the Amsoil Ea filters as their own branded TRD filter.
I get it, I too like using quality stuff...makes me feel good whether it provides a benefit or not.

I always used the Toyota filters or Napa Gold. They both looked good in terms of the pleats and where the pleats meet. That to me is the key...how they mesh the pleats together because if it's a cheap quality filter?? I've seen the pleat actually open up and the oil is alllowed to bypass right on through without filtration.
Other than that I've never really noticed anything special/not special about oil filters...just how they're held together. Some brands you take them right out of the box and right away you can see the seal splitting at the pleat. (I must say I don't think I've ever used the word "pleat" this much in my entire life

The top Fram filter is actually a really good filter, but they don't make it in a cartridge style filter like the LS takes. The other Fram filters aren't that great.
The OEM Toyota filter is only like 58% efficient (meaning it only filters 58% of the oil) where the Amsoil filters I mentioned are like 99% efficient.

I’ve blackstone’d both a denso and M1 filter on my LS back to back with almost identical ppm across the board on a 5,000 mile interval. A 10,000 mile interval might return more distinct results but for the short OCI I do not foresee ever recouping the astronomical amsoil/M1 filter price.
If all we cared about was value for money, we'd all be driving Corollas.

Same is true of doing 5k changes vs 10k changes. Will an owner ever recoup the cost of doing that? Probably not.
