So in the end the upper control arms didn’t fix the rattling issues you had 2 years ago?
Two years ago I replaced the uppers and two lowers, took care of it for the most part. Then recently it began making noise again (50,000 miles later), so I inspected the upper portion of the control arm and the ball socket area was loose...replaced that arm and the found out that the other upper arm was shot too. Replaced that. Then I replaced the sway bar links and bushings (because the bushings were worn). After all that it still didn't help - I suspect it was the struts - but all the parts I replaced were worn out and in need of replacement too. It also developed a weird crunching sound when turning to the left, couldn't figure it out...maybe a strut? And the final straw was the brakes started making noise coming from the actuator - my actuator was out of warranty so I didn't want to be on the hook for that as well. So a car with 176,000 miles was traded in. I figure it needed front struts, a brake actuator, tires, a passenger power mirror (mine was damaged from hitting a turkey, yup). Oh and the car began burning oil (4 quarts between changes). Drivers arm rest was badly worn and my front rotors were pulsating pretty badly and in need of replacement. I figure I needed maybe $3,000-$4,000 dollars of work...plus my my front bumper was badly pitted from all the highway miles I put on the car.
But it was a great car and quite honestly with a little work I have no doubt that the car could have went another 100,000 miles without trouble. Even the oil burning issue wasn't really an "issue", I could have used a heavier weight and probably taken care of most of it. But I didn't want to dump that much money into an 11 year old car, especially as how I drive 25k-30k a year.
Here s question. In all that time ever have a problem with the air conditioner? Just interested in how they hold up over time.
Good luck with the new truck.

Never had an issue with the AC system except for the blower motor. Easy quick fix. Other than that? Nothing. But the cooled seats kind of lost their effectiveness (driver's side). Probably clogged filter.
