Pirelli Tire Reward

I think it was the higher V (149 MPH) speed rated tire called Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus
For the 2005 LS430 with Lexus stock wheels is either the 17 inch tire:

or 18 inch tire:

Yes, some of us LS430 guys still troll the 4th Gen group. One day I'll plan to step to a LS460, I just need the LS500 to come out so the prices on the LS460 will drop to where I can pay cash for one.
Again, thanks for the heads up!

I wouldn't put the Defender on the LS personally...

The LS500 is out and prices have started to drop ever so slightly but not a lot.

IMO it's going to take a little while for people to give up their LS460 for the LS500. They might be available but I don't think they are plentiful yet and there definitely aren't any rebates or discounts right now. Then there will be those who will wait until the second or third model year just so the bugs can get worked out. Give it a year or so and I think the prices will come down quite a bit.....that includes the price drop on the LS430 as well. I'm hoping in another year, maybe two tops, I can get a 2013+ in the low to mid $20s.

I'm not even sure DT does alignments? I use an independent guy that uses new equipment. I can usually get a 4-wheel for about $70 vs about $100+ at places like Firestone or Goodyear. I also get to stand just outside of the work bay so I can watch what's going on and ask questions along the way if I need.

Unfortunately DT in North Texas does not do wheel alignments.
I previously purchased a 5 year alignment plan at NTB back in 2013 on my previous 1995 LS400 and see that NTB will allow a 1-time transfer to another car. So maybe I will get a transferred alignment to my 2012 LS460L or start another 5-year plan for $190 plus tax. Here's a trivia question: who owned NTB prior to 2003?

Again thanks for the heads up on the Pirelli reward. When I called discount tire yesterday the guy I talked to said the P7 was going to be discontinued and replaced with one called Strada(?) which I couldn't find and which is why it was $135 vs $160 quoted for the Strada. He said they were the exact same specs so of course I just ordered the P7 but they had to be shipped in. Had them put on this morning, got there 20 min before they opened and I was in and out in 25 minutes. So far they seem to work great, even had them on the highway with no issues and no alignment either. The only negative is I happened to look at their site today for Pirelli and I see where the tire dropped in price by another $5 each ($130 now). Still $671 out the door and I should get a $70 rebate. Hard to beat the tire for basically $150 ea mounted and out the door.

The P7 is not being replaced by the Strada. The Strada is simply Dicount Tires version.

This is a timely thread as I may need to replace my Michelin's soon after only 25k miles (they are rated at 40k miles). But, which Pirelli is recommended: the P7, P Zero or P Zero Nero? Thanks to all.

Here is what CR results showed for tested 225/40R18 (2 UHP shown above) and 215/60R16 (2 Performance shown below) size tires (I did not find the P Zero Nero) along with a ratings legend:

Faded shift ****. $500 part
54k miles on the garaged 08. So it’s starting.
paid fair for a nice car. Almost $19k cash.
i have to admit I like driving the LS more than I thought I would.
Lots of motor. Strong brakes.

Congrats on your 2008 LS460 purchase. It should go nicely with your 2008 SC430 Pebble Beach.

Caflashbob, Congrats on your LS460 purchase! I've seen your postings in the SC430 forum for years, and am glad you decided to add the LS to your Lexus collection! I have the same car setup, and I think you will be very happy with the combination of ultimate luxury (the LS460) and sporty, grand touring luxury (the SC430). Post some photos when you get a chance!
