If you’re going to get the LS460L and always long to have the 600hL again, you should get the 600

Rick, not to add complexity here, but have you seen this one? Beautiful color, APCS (which the Atlanta one doesn't have) and lower miles. I doubt the seller would come as far down as you got the Atlanta folks, but it might be worth a look. It may no longer be available (I see it was retitled in December), but FWIW.

FWIW, I've done the sight-unseen thing with both my LS cars. The 460L came from Park Place Jaguar in TX, and the 600 from Lexus of Portland (as in Oregon, not Maine, which would've been one heck of a lot closer). In both cases, I'm sure the dealerships thought I was subjecting them to my own version of the Spanish Inquisition (and I was!) - tons of questions, requests, photos, videos, etc., and between this, solid service history for both and the fact I was arguably dealing with reputable operations, I was comfortable. My LS460L did have a ton of problems initially, but sadly, pretty much nothing that an inspection would've caught (e.g., weird, intermittent vibrations and things usually caught only by people as picky as I). Tire wear was perhaps the only exception, but I had gathered documentation pre-purchase, enabling me to come back to them after and have the situation rectified. Having said all this, I think a PPI is definitely money well spent.
In the meantime, my 600 continues to rest in the garage until the road salt is all gone! I've thought of getting rid of it, but all it takes is one darn spin and a couple abrupt depressions of the accelerator pedal, and the crazy thoughts disappear

Still some details to be worked out on the Atlanta LS600HL. Any of our forum friends live in Atlanta? I get scared buying a car sight unseen!
Rick,
I am anxiously watching how you navigate this long distance purchase. I will be in the same boat in the next few months. All of the 460's I have found with the options I am looking for are at least 400 miles away or more. I know that Lemon Squad will do remote inspections but relying on someone else to qualify the vehicle is a bit scary. I have never purchased long distance.
Hopefully you can find a local CL member in Atlanta to check it out for you.

hfahmy: Thanks for your kind offer! I actually just completed an extremely thorough video walk-through of the LS600HL via FaceTime, so I won’t need to take you up on your offer.
The sales rep from Jim Ellis Porsche did a great job of walking me through the car from top to bottom, pointing out all of the flaws he saw and showing them to me via the FaceTime connection. The car is in decent shape for a typical 6 year old car with 66k miles, but it was not nearly as immaculate as I was hoping ( I really think many of the LS owners obsess about their cars the way I do, but this previous owner clearly did not). There were multiple scratches/tears/imperfections in the interior that I didn’t care for (and that couldn’t easily be fixed). There were a few ‘normal-looking’ rock chips and scratches in the paint that didn’t bother me too much. Overall, I was a bit disappointed in the car’s condition, and have decided to pass on this one.
So the search for my next LS continues... thanks to everyone who provided thoughts on this LS! If anyone sees a sharp 2010-2012 LS460L for sale, please let me know. I’m steering away from the Obsidian cars, though, which seems to comprise the lion’s share of the 460Ls I’m seeing.

Yeah, the vast majority of LS460Ls are black. I had the same problem searching new.

Although there was a 2012 LS460L with gray exterior and black interior that somewhat peaked my interest listed at https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...9511/overview/
The $25k price looked alright for a 2012 LS460L with 57k miles. But since I found a 2012 LS460L locally in Dallas, it saved me from driving the 250 miles each way to Houston to check out this gray car.
The Free CarFax report shows the gray car was most likely in the Sherman/Denison area (north of Dallas) when Hurricane Harvey hit Houston in August 2017, so it is likely not a Harvey flood damaged car.
Just to be safe before buying, I would get one of those mobile car inspections done on-site to see if there is any obvious repair work needing to be done. And directly across the I-10 Katy Freeway from this Houston dealer's lot, there is the Westside Lexus Sales dealer.

Congrats!
Don't get me wrong, I love the car in black its just too much work for me to keep it looking good.

Dark blues are my preference, but a clean LS looks stunning in black.

Too funny as I just bought a Back in Black on Black 2012 LS460L in Dallas last week.
