08 control arms
hey Guys! I have a replaced the lower rearward control arms on the 08 LS 460 yesterday and now I'm going to replace upper four, has anyone ordered from Rock Auto or any other site and if so were the parts a direct fit? I can get all the uppers for about $200.00 or less. beats the dealer prices by a few hundred.

Rockauto replacement arms were all direct fit for me, and I've had no issues with them in 60,000 miles of driving.

Only a major issue if you let the Lexus Dealership change them.
There are Diy instructions on this forum. If you can remove the strut then you are home free. One think I will mention is to make sure the control arms line up at the same level as the old ones. There can be extra stress on the bushing if you have them mounted angled to high or too low. Just make sure they are centered.

Important to make sure that the arms are "pre-loaded" before tightening everything up. In other words - making sure that the weight of the vehicle is on the arms when you tighten. Otherwise, you'll be doing this job again soon.

What is the best way to do this in your garage??

I think the pre load procedure is mainly for the lower control arms. It is kinda tough to get a wrench in there and tighten when the wheel is in the way. Just make sure the upper arms are in line with the position of the old ones. If you look closely you will see a center mark on the mounting brackets.

While you are at it I'd get some new stabilizer bar end links since it is short money. They need to be disconnected to get the control arm to move down far enough to remove or lower the strut out of the way. They can be a real pain to remove if they are corroded and can be the hardest part of the install. Then you end up damaging it getting it off!! I got the Mevotech ones. They are greaseable and it has a finished surface so they wont get surface rust on them after a few week which is an eye sore for me.
