Total Brake Failure..............
Have your brakes checked!!!!!!!!!!!!
2010 LS460L only 62K miles...cars in perfect shape.... Paid 80K new
Wife was driving home, traffic light turns red, push on the brakes and "NOTHING" no brakes at all, wife had to swerve abruptly to avoid hitting car in front of her, ended up in a ditch, damaged rim, wife is scared half to death, Granddaughter was in the back seat.....
Towed car to Pembroke Pines Lexus Fla (worst dealer ever, service dude is rude and not very smart). First they replaced the actuator (which they said was 2K but later I found out was under warranty) then replaced 2 pumps and some other parts, car is still is shop 2 weeks later. I have no clue when I will get it back.
I called Lexus and they offered me 25% off the bill """"WOW"""" haha which I still have no clue what the total is. If my wife does not get over her fear of driving and she needs therapy, they will be paying a lot more then 25%.
I'm so mad not only because this car could have killed my wife and Granddaughter but because I was going to buy the LS500 sport but now my wife said she will never drive a POS Lexus (her words) again in her life and I can't blame her. Lexus, shame on you

OP, sorry to hear about. Thanks for posting and alerting others.
Before that brake failure happened, was there any warning on dashboard?. Do you know whether all fours brakes failed or just few?.
Any brake service done in the past?.

Wow that's pretty bad, I wouldn't drive another Lexus ever again either. And they're only offering 25% off the bill? They should pay for the whole thing and be happy to.
Dont get me wrong, my 460 has been nothing but bulletproof...most reliable car I've ever owned, in fact one of the most reliable and well built cars I've ever seen (I work in the industry), but total brake failure should never happen. Ever. That's a design flaw and safety issue.

You need to find out the reason for this complete failure. I bet many lawyers would love to handle this case for you, specially if the complete failure symptom is documented by the dealer.

This is nuts, and I think unheard-of before on this site. I am sorry it happened and am glad your wife and granddaughter are fine (albeit understandably shaken-up).
Short of complete loss of brake fluid, leading to zero hydraulic pressure, I can't think of anything else. Given the system on the LS, though, I also do wonder about the failure modes of the brake actuator but have a hard time thinking the system doesn't have enough redundancy to prevent catastrophic failure. Having said this, something obviously did fail catastrophically, and I hope Lexus does step up to the plate. That 25% is a slap on the face, IMHO.

Something is up here, brakes on a modern car don't just "fail", have you had the brakes serviced any time lately? Wondering if there could be air in the lines or something...

That's scary to hear. I'm sure there's so anomaly at play here. Like Steve said, modern brakes just don't fail like that.

You had to have lost all brake fluid. What did the dealer say about what happened? Did you have your brake fluid changed since you bought the car?

Both front and rear completely failing isn’t likely. If the front or back goes out, then the other is still there. What happens though is the peddle goes nearly to the floor and feels like they’ve completely failed, but there is still one. They are designed that way so they don’t completely fail. That said, to someone who’s never experienced it when they don’t brake where they should, people pump them never going to the floor where the remaining pressure is. Panic sets in and they “have no brakes”.

Also, any modern brake system in the last few decades (as far as I know), has had a criss cross pattern of brake fluid distribution to allow some semblance of even, stopping ability due to a system failure.
