seems the hood struts on my 2009 LS460 is getting weak,
did a quick search and found them on ebay for $49/pair with lifetime warranty,
wonder where did you guys buy the hood struts,
and is it easy to replace (appears to be easy)

They work great and also come with lifetime warranty. As for installation....super easy. Simply, use a screwdriver to pry out the clip and pull the strut it off (both ends). Be careful though!! That hood will fall on your melon if you don't prop it up with a 2x4! LOL. To install, you just pop the socket in each ball mounted on the hood and push the clip in.

I would go with the Lift Support Depot with the higher pressure. Mine are fine, but the hood doesn't spring up as quick as I'd like. But that's a minor quibble. The main concern is to have the hood STAY up, which they both will do. Perhaps with the higher pressure, they will also do they're job longer. But who knows...
I bought the below from Amazon. Same make and brand, the higher force ones, which is what I would have chosen, but appreciate roadfrog's input. $29.50, free shipping.
super easy to replace the struts, as shown in many youtube videos
pry loose the metal clip, push sideways and the strut will pop out of the connection ball.
i used my head to support the hood when replacing the first strut, and the one new strut by itself can support the hood so it is easy to replace the 2nd strut.
probably the new strut's strength is about twice the strength of the old one it replaced.
I just installed new StrongArm 6779 hood struts from Amazon yesterday. As others have said, the install is very easy and the new struts seem much stronger than the original. The hood actually opens on its own now after the latch is disengaged and the hood is manually raised the first few inches. I recall having to lift my hood all the way up manually in the past, but it might have been because my original hood struts were worn out for a long time and I didn't recognize it until the point they would no longer hold the hood open.
