Alexa and Carplay update to Enform
Has anyone else seen this article?
https://techcrunch.com/2018/01/15/to...lay-this-year/
It says Lexus and Toyota will be updating Enform and Entune with Carplay and Alexa. I am wonder if the older models will also get this update. Has anyone ever seen Lexus make significant updates to Enform? Do you guys think that 2013+ LS 460s will get an update to Enform?

Not a chance they do any sort of backwards update. Will only be on new models going forward.

Articles I have seen have been clear as mud about availability of this feature. To boot, most say "in 2018" as opposed to MY2018. If history is any indicator, however, Steve is right: no dice on backward compatibility. However, one of the articles I read references Enform App Suite 2.0 as all that is needed, which I think (need to verify) is what we have in our 2017 LX.

Yes, the article I read says the update will be for Enform 2.0. My 2014 LS uses version 2.15.611.281. Here is a quote from the article:
"It’s not yet clear how many 2019 year models will include CarPlay support, or whether this will also be coming to older vehicles that are getting the Entune 3.0 and Enform 2.0 updates."
They make it sound like older vehicles are getting an update, but they just aren't sure about the CarPlay. I was looking for some hope that I would get an updated version, but I am doubtful for older models.

"Enform 2.0" is the term Lexus uses to describe the new Enform that comes out on the LS500 and LC500. Our LS460s do NOT have Enform 2.0.
When they say "older vehicles" they mean older models that get the update as part of a model year change, etc.

existing vehicles have Enform, Enform 2.0 is the next generation of Enform, but it has nothing to do with the version number of the App.
current vehicles have Enform with version 2.15.xxx
next generation will have Enform 2.0 with version 1.xx.xxx
for example my wife's 2017 Camry has Entune version 5.2.0 the 2018 Camry has Entune 3.0 version 3.2.1
the Toyota Entune page describes it:

For instance there is an entirely different iPhone app for Enform 2.0 that specifically says currently only the LS500 and LC500 are compatible

Yup, once the cited article was out referencing 2019 models (which I saw after my previous post), it was clear all bets on backward upgradability were off (as suspected).
Funny thing with the "versioning": the explanation makes sense, but Lexus could really be less ambiguous (just list the darn models, for crying out loud...).

Enform 2.0 is currently only used with 2018 RC's, NX's, LC's and LS's.
