Default Batteries batteries batteries

I've owned my car for a little over four years now. When I purchased it they put a brand new battery in, it was a little weak they said. No problems for two years, then it died. Replaced it with another new one. Now two years later it died again and I put another new battery in it.

So really in four years I've been through three batteries. This last battery I put in was part of a warranty from my previous battery (no charge). I figured I'd be continuing with my trend of burning through batteries and purchased one with a warranty (good idea).

I find with these cars there is no surviving a "weak" battery. They just can't provide the juice to start these things on initial start up. Between the telescoping steering wheel motor, turning over a V8, activating the electric steering, and assisted brake system, it's a bit too much. Never mind the amperage this car needs to "stay alive" when it's turned off. Probably doesn't help that I live in an area where the winters are hell (all three batteries were replaced in late December/early January).

Anyone else ripping through batteries in these things?

Anyway, i guess i will change the battery out this coming summer...

-15F?? We had a two week article freeze over here, it never went above 10, but it never got lower than -7F (then again once you go -whatever, does it really matter?lol).

Not really, except fingers and eyeballs starts to "sting" Anyway, a pipe in my garage burst due to the cold, so the car has been parked outside... Some areas in MN had wind chill reportedly about - 30 to -40F

Why not try a nice AGM? I did mine when I got the car with the oem AGM because on the 8 it's a bit more complicated with sizing and coding the battery but they last a really long time in harsh conditions.

I got about 9 years on my original battery. I replaced it with an Interstate and so far so good.

All the way AGM battery. Lasts longer and good reserve for emergency starts. These cars are very sensitive to accurate current flow, I wouldn't risk those electronics with cheap batteries.

AGM on my ES lasted 7 years, on GX 6 years.

I was installing a sub in my LS yesterday and luckily, found out my battery needed to be replaced (Jan '13 manufactured date on the battery / Panasonic), so I did, with a Duralast Gold from Autozone.
The battery itself had to be turned backwards around but otherwise it fit without issue.

Given the OEM battery lasted nearly 5 years, let us hope this Duralast Gold will do the same.

The Duralast will go for a year, but, they will exchange it for another one every year, for four years. LOL

Just bought an Innerstate Megatron plus battery at for $125. It has 800cca and 1000ca. Make sure your terminals are in good condition. My old positive copper one was very soft and corroded. I got the updated one from a Toyota dealer for about $25

I've had my 460 almost six years and I replaced my battery in Sept. This will be my third battery.

Megatron is a great battery. Bosch S6 is another. Personally, I would lean towards higher reserve vs CCA. They somewhat go hand in but higher reserve is more important. Not sure how big of a battery you can fit. You should see the size of the battery that is in my trunk. Damn thing weighs 70 lbs.

Could you please explain to us how additional Reserve Capacity would be useful for a starting battery in a Lexus LS460. These cars have a very well designed computer controlled engine that starts easily. The OEM battery is sized to reliably start the car after it has been sustained in standby mode for many weeks.
