Not sure if the air suspension is working the way it should or maybe the internal shock is buggered, have ordered all new bushes which will go in this week, Febest OEM , front quite noisy going over bumps and ride is spongy.
Took the actuators off the front suspension to see if they work, unplug them and install them and they activate but if i change settings from sport to soft no change.
Now if i turn the manual shaft inside the shock should they keep turning each way or stop ? i did push down hard on them once and oil started to seep from the top is this normal ?

It sounds like the control arms or bushings are worn. That was the problem I had with my LS 460L. Once I’ve changed the front control arms (upper, lower, front, and back) the ride was a 100% improvement. Once you change the bushings, you’ll see the difference. Have the vehicle aligned once bushings are installed. Now, when I’ve changed the front control arms, I was having issues with the rear suspension. I was having the same issue with the vehicle bouncing over uneven spots on the road. Now I have to have the rear air struts checked and diagnosed for bushing issues and have the rear wheel alignment. I’m not too sure about the sport/comfort control. So with air suspension, it may be best not to use until you have a auto technician to diagnose the issue. I hope this helps some. I should have some additional information soon.

Im sorry about the air struts. It seems that if there’s leakage, you may need to change the air struts.

The shocks/air suspension is KYB brand is this factory specs? as i called a KYB tech and he was unaware that they did the full air/ shock for the LS also is the shock separate from air suspension that's is can the shock be removed separately from the assembly. unsure if this can be done.

KYB was the original maker for the air struts. However, they do not carry the replacement for the LS 460/460L. But you can get them from Lexus for about $1150-1200 each if you want to keep it OE. Consumer Report made a good suggestion and I paraphrase their quote: “If your vehicle is 1-4 years old, keep it OE if you’re planning to sell/trade in; if 5 or more years old and planning to keep it, it’s okay to use after-market parts.” If the front air struts are leaking then Arnott is an excellent manufacturer for replacing them. They are made in the USA and new the cost is about $670-690 each strut. The struts are pneumatic (air) and a complete unit, coil-over monotube shock absorbers. Here’s something to keep in mind: car parts manufacturers has their own product they sell. Car makers contract with these manufacturers to make parts for them. The cost for the same part is higher due to the use of the licensing. So, if you decide to keep it OE or choose after market Parts is your decision. Just choose one that has an excellent reputation.

Oh. One quick correction: The cost of the Arnott air struts are about $670 to $799, depending on who’s selling them.

Thanks for info, interesting about the KYB shocks! i can understand why the KYB tech didn't know about them. Right so the shocks/air are original so will need to replace them as the vehicle has 110,000 + on the clock will look at aftermarket air, some on Ebay with only 1-year warranty, Arnott sound good but the postage to Australia will be to much. Will keep you posted on how i go with the Bushes.

Arnott has a couple of stocking distributors in Australia including Three Point Classic and Australian Automotive Aftermarket. Email info@arnottinc.com and they may be able to provide a complete list.

Changed out all bushes today with Febest took all day, being awhile since i spent so much time doing mechanical work, was a great day. So the squeaky front end noise has disappeared as the old bushes were worn but the ride is still spongy so will order some new air/shocks as these must be buggered, one quote today was $1550 each delivered Arnott brand so I will be looking elsewhere.

I'm in Australia (Melbourne) and just went through the front end control arm and air spring issue myself. I went Chinese everything and six months in my 2007 LS feels like a new car, fingers crossed it stays that way.
