I heard the noise for several days when starting the car before it no longer started. Once it started, I had full power. However, it was much worse when the car finally didn't start. Luckily, I had taken it to my mechanic to check it out - and it was there that it wouldn't start.

Mechanic will know if its the starter.
Be happy its not an LS400 lol. My LS400 had an intermittent starter fault and a starter replacement on that car is like $1,200 from an independent mechanic, engine has to be raised, its a mess. We just endured the sporadic no starts for a couple years.

Ordered the Denso part from Amazon for $150 rebuilt ;(
I’ll be taking a gamble with my local mechanic who has done work for me in the past. Quoted me $320 which I think is a great deal.
Hoping it is the starter and not anything else. Also, I’ll be Ordering terminal covers too because I heard the heat fries them.

Always start with the battery, though in this case, I would suspect the starter. If it is the starter, your in for a treat (not really).....it's a biotch to get at. The starter is inexpensive, but labor (if you pay someone to do it), will be pricey with the standard being 6 hrs. For a start, the front part of the exhaust needs to be removed (inc the manifold), as well as the stabilizer bar and suspension reinforcement member. There's more, but that's the bulk of it.
Trying to give my mechanic a heads up.

As I mentioned in the previous posts, the car won’t start. Anyone with experience bypassing the starter relay? Can this be done to start my car and get it to my mechanic? Any help is appreciated.
