Cruise Control Module?
Do our cars have a separate cruise control Module?
I drove a new 600 the other day and found that the radar (adaptive) cruise will bring the car to a full stop. My 2009 will not. It deactivates at around 25mph. I emailed another 2009 600 owner who is overseas. He said his also comes to a full stop. So I'm wondering if I can put in a new module, or an overseas module, and get the results. Thoughts?

I never thought about that. I'd be curious if you could do that, even though I wouldn't change mine.

Thanks Arvid. I really wish I could get this figured out. I'm surprised nobody has had any input at all. I called a parts department and they said they could not locate a cruise module for the car. But then again, they didn't sound super interested in helping either.
I wonder if there is an ungrounded pin, or something like that on the computer that changes it over to Euro-spec mode?

Nice video Arvid.
I always wondered when I got my radar cc why it shut off at 25 mph. I assumed it was some technical issue that Lexus couldn't do it, but clearly that is not the case.
LT4, I have a feeling it is more than just a simple change to convert it to a full stop setup.

Canadian 2008 ls600hl here with radar cruise control and can confirm that the system don't come to a full stop and deactivate before stopping. Actually if I recall correctly the minimum speed for cruise control to even activate is 60km/h, under that it shut off. Would be interesting to find a way to tweak the system though.

TTT. I’m wondering if I change out this module with an overseas module, or 2013+ module, if that would solve the issue. Thoughts? Any new knowledge?

I doubt you will get a straight answer from Lexus or any other auto shop. You are talking about modifying hardware for a feature that could cause accidents if it malfunctions. Even if the new ECU fit exactly with no orphan connections or pins, there is no guarantee the newer ECU will work perfectly on the older car. You would have to test it yourself and hope for the best. No auto shop is going to accept the liability for giving you advice on this mod or doing the mod in their shop. Are you willing to accept the risk of this mod, especially if you have a family riding with you in the car?

I think for this feature to work, you need the driver attention monitor and the stereo cameras for lane keep assist by the rear view mirror. My 08 600 shuts off at 25mph as well and I do not have the driver attention monitor or stereo cameras for lane keep assist

Mine has the cameras and monitor. I cannot get my head around what Lexus is thinking with this. The Euro one goes to zero mph.
I just test drove a RCF... radar cruis shuts off at 20mph. Same with my current 2017 ES loaner. The RX I had last time goes to 0. It is like a throw of the dice.

Maybe a legal thing in the US for the 2007-2009 time frame ? Or just a quality control thing in the US ?
Just like that feature was not available in the "snow belt" areas upper US during the 2007-2008 years because it didn't work well with snow covering the sensors. You could not buy a LS460/L in New England with dynamic cruse during 2007-2008 unless it was imported in from another state (trust me in NE, it's a very, very rare feature on those years)
