Yes, indeed, I had to search the PDF file for "Mute" and "Mode" to retrieve these only two pages 442 and 527 (among many others) that have this information. No wonder I missed it leafing thru the manual.

I just checked the Mode button, and it works exactly as described by Steve. It beeps within a couple of seconds after pressing it (the manual does not state this) and the Mute icon is displayed. It's faster to Unmute by just pressing the volume + button (volume doesn't increase). This procedure to Mute is better, IMO, than hitting the Pause button since I don't have to search for it on the dash.

Thanks everyone! I wonder how many other useful features I am blissfully unaware of in my car. In Don Rumsfeld's parlance, that would be a "Known Unknown"
