I'm just trying to get all my ducks in a row as I narrow down the list. Are LED headlights a nice option or would you consider it a "must have" option?

In many applications I actually still prefer HID headlamps (which I have) but LED is certainly the future.

Where I live, all my lights do is tell other people I'm there at night, so anything will do. I usually only drive unlit highways two times a year on trips to Ohio.

As for the future, this is the best system I've seen so far. Who knows when the US will allow it, though.

LED is becoming the new standard. Laser isn't allowed in the US yet, so yeah, go LED. They're typically much brighter and produce a pure white light. Audi, Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, etc.. are all making it standard if not an option in all their cars. So if you're going brand new, LED is a must then.

My wife's 2017 Acura MDX has LED headlights and they're definitely the future. The output is awesome.

I have the standard non-LED headlamps on my 2013 F-Sport; they work beautifully. I do not find myself wanting for LEDs.

About a month ago I took a trip up to NJ and while there I rented a fairly new Ford Fusion, couldn’t have been any older than a 2015. I couldn’t believe that it had halogen headlights. How are car manufacturers allowed to still use such old tech in their cars?! The lighting was so bad I would have probably been better off taping my 3 led flashlight to the dash. Needless to say whether it’s HID, led, laser, etc., any of those technologies is a must have.

For me, "must have" is a light that shine bright enough for me to comfortably drive in safe fashion. Maybe i don't put too much brain cells into this, but so far, i am happy with my LS lighting output... Highway in minnesota is DARK, and those deers!!!

Sheesh. just the other day i saw two staring at me at the side of the highway, and i half expected them to show me the middle finger!

If you are buying new, check it.

Halogens are still the most frequently use lights in cars. Right now it's still mostly high end cars that have Xenon HIDs because of the cost to manufacture.

It's changing though. Lots of mainstream cars have LEDs too now.
