My sunroof gasket on the door seems to be hardening, what do you suggest to try and keep it playable and from cracking?

I've always used to sonus total eclipse. It has sunscreen in it to protect the plastics. They also make a tire dressing that has coconut oil in it; might help soften the rubber.

I've used Honda's Shin-Etsu grease ever since I bought an S2000. A small amount goes a long way. I use it twice a year on my cars, and I'm still using the tube I bought in 2005.

Silicone Grease is what I used. Very little bit lasts forever.

Ford sells a similar product in a spray can. Those work well too.

This is a common issue on LS460's, I had this on my barely two-year old 2013 model.

Even if you're out of warranty, you may be able to negotiate with your dealer on a discount for fixing the issue... it's a documented and known issue.

I use Nextzett ( lederpflege) rubber care . Excellent product. Use it in all my three cars. All rubber seals are soft and supple including the ones in my 17 years old ES!.

Heard about Honda's Shin-Etsu. It got some excellent reviews as well.

Thanks all so far for the info, so far I have now ordered 2 products from amazon.......... I think the one with the foam application tip will work the best. I am also interested to hear from anybody else weather they think Lexus will replace even if out of warranty.

i dont recommend that at all; i used this for my ls430 around the door rubber seals; at first it was great the seals looked almost brand new and seemed like new life came into them. The problem is when i didn't use it for a while 3-5 months the seals started to make creaking sounds..

it was horrible; its like when you hard turn or go over bumps all 4 doors seals were making creaking sound..it drove me nuts; after i applied the gummi stuff it went away...came back after 2-3 months...so it works great if you keep using it. i sold the car and use the silicone spary as suggest here on the forums. it seemed to have worked on the ls460.

I purchased a 2012 CPO and the dealer would NOT replace the sunroof gasket under warranty...... Even though when I purchased the car I pointed this out to the salesman and he said: "When you bring the car in for service, we will replace the gasket under warranty."
The service advisor told me that since it was not leaking they would not replace it and also added that this is "normal" for a 4 year old car to have this cracking of the rubber around the sunroof, I told her that my 2005 Ford Explorer that sits outside does not have any of this happening and I would not think that a "luxury car" like the LS should not have this problem. I am very disappointed about this cracking of the gasket and how Lexus will NOT replace it under warranty since it is a known issue. The service manager was no help either and he agreed with the service advisor that this is not a problem.

Back to the OP's question: I have used 303 AeroSpace protectant with excellent results....... Wurth Gumi Phluge (sp?) is also very good for weather stripping.

For folks experiencing this problem, you may need to escalate to corporate. These are not isolated cases.

It all starts with "cajoling" the service adviser, their on-site supervisor, and their local chain of command.... once those options are exhausted you go to corporate.

Of course, if you are significantly out of warranty, then obviously all bets are off.

sounds like a rouge dealer, i had mine replaced; wasn't a CPO was not even bought from the same dealer but it was serviced at the dealer entire life so they did it as a good gesture. This seems to be common problem with ls460s; even when i was looking for a 2013+ ones i found couple of 2013s on the lot with mid 20k miles and cracking gasket.
