Default PIAA Aero Vogue Wipers

Just wanted to update the group. Approaching 30k miles in my LS (hard to believe) and the OEM wipers were getting a little tired, decided to upgrade to some PIAA Aero Vogue wiper arms and blades:

Here's a picture comparing them to the OEM wiper arms (not a Lexus, but these are the same OEM arms (my Sedona also has the same arms). Lower blade is the PIAA:

The PIAA arms are real powder coated metal, unlike the OEM ones which are black plastic that gets grey over time.

Installation is as simple as any other wiper blade. With PIAA silicone blades there is a prep agent that you apply to the windshield (sort of like RainX) then you run the wipers for 5 minutes to let them bed in.

Out in the rain today for the first time and they did great. They more rigid than the OEM arms so they give a nice sturdy wipe, no streaking whatsoever.

I've had PIAA blades before, unquestionably the best quality you can buy IMHO. OEM is also very good. FYI PIAA silicone inserts will fit in your OEM arms if you want to keep them.

I was about $55 shipped total for both sides, ordered from TireRack.

I just noticed that the wiper blades on my LS are getting a bit streaky. This product seems like a great fit. I will check it out. Do they include the "RainX" compound with the wiper blades?

Yep, each wiper blade comes with a wipe impregnated with the prep solution. You just wipe the window down, wait 10 mins and buff it off.

Good to hear. I haven't had the same luck with PIAA before. Maybe they've improved them. I just replaced my blades this afternoon with the OEM ones from my dealer. 20 bucks for both sides. I've just had so much good luck with them that I'm reluctant to change to another brand. My set lasted a year and probably could have gone longer, but I make it a point to change them every year just because. Never any streaking or chatter....ever. I'm still on the original arms as well.

Interested to hear how they perform after some use. My personal experience has always been OEM wiper blades work better than any aftermarket I've tried.

Yeah me too. High degree of frustration with every aftermarket brand I've tried. Michelin, PIAA, Trico, Bosch...all chattered or streaked after a time. We're in the rainy Pacific Northwest, so good wipers are a must. These PIAA's do look like a quality product though. I look forward to an update down the road after they've been used a bit and maybe I'll give them a try.

I've used PIAA blades on and off for probably 10 years, always had a good experience. I would say they're probably equally as good as OEM blades. I bought these basically for the improved arms.

My 03 ES had a set of PIAA blades on it when I sold it to my aunt and I was shocked that years afterwards the same set was still on there, and they still worked very well with the car sitting outside. They were just replaced this past year when she had the windshield replaced. I sold her the car in 2010, and they weren't new then!

Just an update, I've had the PIAA blades for 2 months now and they've been great. Heavy rain today and no chatter, no streaking, just perfect silent wiping. The arms look much better than OEM and have held up well.

I'll give you that. The PIAA arms look more "OEM" than the OEM ones do.

They really do. Going to order a set for the Sedona too, it sits outside and the OEM wipers are toast, and the arms are bleached and look grey and terrible.

Thinking about ordering these as my wiper performance has become increasingly streaky, even after I changed the OEM inserts. Did you go with 24" and 17"? Thanks for the recommendation, by the way..

Just an update on these, I've developed a pretty bad chatter as the drivers side wiper comes down to the bottom of the windshield, they skip and chatter pretty badly. I've tried cleaning the windshield and treating the windshield and it didn't make a difference.

Going to put the OEM arms back on and see if it helps...

Not surprised Steve. As I posted before, I've never had any luck with even the elite wipers offered by Bosch, PIAA, etc. My oem's will easily last a full year, even here in the very wet, Pacific Northwest. The added bonus is they're inexpensive.
