Hello All,
Pretty stoked as tomorrow I travel to North Carolina from Tennessee for a black/black LS460. One owner with a complete service history from day one until now replete with synthetic oil every 5000 miles. Pulling up the service records on Lexus's website practically made me weep as the brakes (rotors/pads) and actuator were just done 3000 miles ago and tires were purchased at Lexus 10,000 miles ago.

It has the $5645 Navigation/Mark Levinson Package, Intuitive Park Assist ($500), and the Preferred Accessory Package ($900) for a total originally of $69,377. Amazing that my UL 430 actually stickered for more, but I know things like dual paned glass, better leather, and the rear seat recliners and so forth are quite spendy.

Regardless, what I would reckon to be a mid optioned 460 and the price was quite killer considering the service history/records could not honestly have been better and it is a one owner Southern car.

Pictures to follow. Really interested to see the difference from air shocks in the UL and the added horsepower. That said, every automotive publication I have read have shown the 460 to not really be much if any faster than the 430 in spite of the hp difference. Super stoked to no longer have the gold package!

Thanks! Really stoked and once I have returned will provide pictures and whatnot. And also it has 85,000 miles. It is pretty hard to find a 1 owner LS from 2007 let alone one where said owner had all servicing completed at Lexus. Bit of a unicorn in that regard.

In my case the extra 100HP is very very real and noticeable, even in my heavy L

That service record sounds fantastic! That would be what sealed the deal for me, plus the southern car factor is huge. You'll love the car and I'm willing to bet you'll find it noticeably more powerful and faster than your 430.

I went from 430 to 460. Had fan 01 430UL to an 06 430 and now a 2011 LS460L. I too notice the difference in the added horsepower. my 460 has some kick to it compared to both my 430's. It was an upgrade for me but not huge. I like to think of it as a more modern 430. You will love the car though. I also got a black one. It is a nightmare to keep dirt and swirl free but when it is all clean there is nothing better. Good luck with it!

You guys are absolutely correct. I cannot believe the all around difference between the two vehicles. And the difference between the Mark Levinson systems is nothing short of astonishing and I say this as a former professional reviewer of "esoteric" high end audio gear. DVD-A (Audio) discs sound amazing. As do well mastered CD's.

I honestly even love the steering compared to the 430 in spite of it not being the variable ratio on the Sport models. However, the power and especially torque are decidedly noticed. Driving from Knoxville, TN to Charlotte, NC you cross over the Appalachians (Great Smokey Mountains National Park) and there are several relatively steep grades where my LX470 struggled to keep speed and the run right at the TN-NC border is chock full of curves and the handling is quite decent.

Really it was the service records that made me get this particular car as there is literally not a hole in the entire life of the car. On the bad side, there are some scratches on the top of the trunk and the top of the bumper where luggage is put in. In addition, there is a dent just to the right of the "L" logo that while not absurdly noticeable, just will not pass muster for me. I knew about the dent going in. Interior is perfect and very few blemishes elsewhere.

I paid $16,500 for it and he had dozens of offers at his full asking (showed me the texts) Like my earlier post stated, the rotors and pads were just done 4000 miles ago and new tires were purchased at the dealer 10,000 miles ago. I just so happened to be the first guy to call him and true to my word told him I would be there Saturday with cash. Just literally turned 88,000 miles.

The average sprint to 60 in the ls430 is around 6.3 seconds. The 460 is usually between 5.8 - 6 seconds. One can hardly call this much of a difference. Even the LS400's 98 - 2000 400's will do 6.3 seconds.

If you read the last paragraph of my first post, I mentioned the things you point out and questioned whether or not I would notice it. Moreover, the gearing in the 8sp in the 460 apparently does it no favors in objective measures. I suppose, as always, YMMV....

Thanks! For what its worth, did not take it personally. Remain mystified about how with 380hp that the 0-60 and 1/4 mile numbers are not at last mid 5's and a 1/4 mile in the 13's. Several professional reviews have mentioned the short 1st gear causing issue in testing.

I suppose I can only speak to my own experience and it does feel demonstratively quicker. Honestly was not expecting much.

And ecstatic to no longer have the gold package. That and the tinted windows I fear gave some the idea that I might have illicit substances on hand for offer... I only keep them for myself!

Weirder too that Lexus's estimate for even the 2007 460's was a 0-60 of I think what you posted, 5.4 seconds. While I know the Germans tend to always understate acceleration numbers, it has not been my experience for Toy/Lex to exaggerate them either.

All that said, the methods used to produce peak acceleration tend to be quite brutal on the drivetrain and it is safe to say that even a now almost 20 year old LS can easily keep up with traffic today.

One more thing, the gas mileage is killer. Got around 28 MPG on the drive back from Charlotte with some (for the East) steep grades and good parts of the drive with a 70 MPH speed limit and the parts that were not did not entail a major reduction in speed. I would reckon average speed to have been at least 75.
